Brought my truck in at 8 this morning to get a leaking hose replaced. Said they didn't have any diesels and that they could get right on it. Drop my truck off, and there aren't any in the bays, so I think that they just might be telling the truth. I was supposed to get a call as soon as they diagnosed the problem(can't fix, too busy lately).

Well 10:30 rolls around, and I call to ask what is going on. Service writer says the tech has it in right then and is looking at it. I am thinking,"Yeah fricking right. Just tell me what's actually going on".

Hadn't heard anything by 12:30, and I call back. Lady says the tech has it in the bay and is looking at it. I still don't believe her and am tempted to run up there and check out what is going on.

They close at 3, and I am almost sure they are gonna call me at 2:30 letting me know that they found the problem(which I pointed to when I dropped it off). $90 for that.

Should I just go pick it up since they haven't done anything in 5hrs? Keep in mind, there weren't any diesels there when I dropped it off, and they have had 5hrs to look for a wet hose. I have another car, but don't want them to do the work based on principle now. I flat out don't trust any dealership service dept anymore.

More than a lot of mom-and-pop places I've had experiences with.

I'll tell you a secret. If you're not waiting, everybody who is waiting is getting work done before you.

My truck quit running a couple months ago and I had no idea what was wrong with it. I decided to bring it to a dealership because I knew they could find out exactly what was wrong with it. I told them to fix all the problems. It took them over 2 weeks and cost me $1,600. When I turned out the parking lot my service airbag light came on. I brought it back and they would not fix it! They insisted I pay $80 for a diagnostic test. Then about 2 days later the check engine light came on. I didn't even call them back. But I will never go there again.

I only use a dealership for warranty and recall work. Ie, I'm not paying them for it.

Here's another secret. The service writers work on commision and are no more trustworthy than salesmen. I trust independent shops far more than stealerships.

Supreme Chevy plaquemine. My friends dad used to own it and of course I never had trouble when he owned it. Apparently it went to shite when he sold it.

Went and sho nuff, it was sitting behind the shop with nothing going on. Picked up the truck and brought it to the only other shop open today that specifically works on diesels

Second dealership got on it quickly and came back with a $2100 estimate. For those of you considering a F250 6.4, my total (engine only) repair costs from August 2010 to now is $28,719.53. I also get parts at cost, so you can add another few thousand to that price if you don't.

Think about that number before you want to buy a Ford diesel.

*Anyone looking for a babied F250? Never been off road. Meticulously maintained. Spotless. Detailed twice a week. Only been in the shop for routine maintenance

I was given a new car senior year of HS. I was bringing it in for it's one free oil change and they were pouring oil from a flower pot. I never went back. Told me it was "recycled oil" .
