Restricted free agent S Rafael Bush would prefer if the Saints didn't match the two-year, $4.5 million offer sheet he received from the Falcons.
Bush is currently the Saints' No. 3 safety and would have a much clearer path to playing time in Atlanta. He'd immediately be the favorite for the Falcons' free safety job and a clear upgrade over 2013 starter Thomas DeCoud. Because the Saints only tendered Bush at the original-round level, New Orleans won't be entitled to draft-pick compensation if they decide not to match the offer.

Eta: just read the original thread which has this info.

On my phone. Check roto for link.

Thankfully, his opinion doesn't matter. If we put up the money...he's ours.

You can't blame him...he wants to start. He can't beat out Byrd or Vaccaro...and he knows that. The Falcons would plug him right in as a starter.

I get that but he has to know he's gonna see a ton of playing time here. Not to mention keeping a great role player for ys, who could turn into something really good for the Falcons, would be reason enough for me to match just so they don't have him.

But then you're stuck with this guys sour grapes and who knows how his motivation will be then

Personally, I hope we match the offer just to screw over the Falcons...they could REALLY use him.

Clearly doesn't want to play for a contender.

Byrd or Vaccaro

Wow I just re realized that we have Byrd and Vaccaro in the same secondary.

C'mon bush it's the falcons. You should rather rot on our bench than advance your personal career and family bank account by starting with a hated rival.

He's not going to be like that. If we do match, he'll be playing a lot.

I can't see the Saints not doing something here. If we don't match, we get nothing and have allowed a division rival to upgrade at our expense. After seeing how Loomis extracted a 5th rounder for Sproles, I can see that we match and try to trade him to another team (might be harder than it sounds because Bush didn't have a lot of interest from other teams). If you can't trade him, you still have him on the team. Seems to be a win/win for the team.

Yep. He will make a lot more money if he can prove he's a capable starter rather than just a serviceable backup.

If yall match, he will get over it.
Can't blame the guy for wanting to prove himself to make starter money, and he has no chance of that happening behind Byrd. Also, I am sure he is happy to play with Moore since they are friends.

Good thing we signed Champ and Byrd and we have Lewis and white and Vaccaro etc...

Lata Bush. Enjoy getting torched by Brees next year.

it amazes me how quickly fans turn on a player, when they just want to actually get more play time. granted i realize its with the falcons and all, but its pathetic to fault a guy and tear him down cause he wants to be able to be a starter.

personally i think its awesome he wants to actually play as opposed to just sitting back and collecting a pay check to hang on the bench.

as someone else said - if he stays, we will get play time. if he goes he will be a starter and I wish him the best.
