I've never done a first round mock before, and it's hard to do if you're not familiar with each teams need off of the top of your head.

Why does everyone think we take OLB or DE in the 1st? Is that even a need?

Because we're "still dealing with the loss of Will Smith." Can't ever have too many pass rushers.

I was just going for value at that point. I don't think it's a glaring need, but it's a premium position.

I wish it would show you the teams top 3 needs.

quick glance, I don't see Jacksonville taking another OT.

OLB I understand. Haralson is quality depth, but he's on a one year deal. Butler is coming back from an injury and it's the last year of his deal. Junior could become a RFA if he get's 11.5 sacks. Rufus is no sure thing.

You draft for the future.

If there is an NFL Draft God and he didn't buy into the "bountygate" bullshite, please don't let this happen.

There's just something about Ohio State LBs I don't trust. I know Hawk has had some good years in Green Bay, but there's been more bad ones than good. I think it's an issue with game speed that's a problem for them. Not 100% sure.

prolly one of the players that reminds me the most of how fans weigh potential draftee quality than team staffs in real life.

The more a player has Combine or Pro Day buzz the more likely he'll be wanted here. The tape tells the tale.

So, what's opinion of the guy? It does appear that he's getting a late push up the boards (which seems to always happen with Ohio State players in general). Anyone remember Veron Gholston?

Ohio State and USC, I swear sometimes I think these colleges are paying people under the table to only say positive things to get players drafted.

Yep, i agree. Humber is on a 1 year deal too, right? Only way I see us taking LB in the first is if him or Mosley are available. I'm still in the CB / WR camp for rounds 1 and 2 (either/or then the other). I'm even predicting we take 2 WRs. Go ahead - shoot.

I'm kinda on Blues side on this; the greater value at the WR position will be in the 2nd round. Same could be said of the CB position. Something tells me that the FO has to look at what they have to deal with next off season. Additional cuts will, more than likely, have to happen because there are some huge salaries coming up. If it appears a few of the LBs may have to go, they may want to get some cheap labor a little experience. My bet is they go defense with the first pick...don't know what position that might be (LB, DT, or CB based upon BPA).

No doubt the LB position will be an issue next offseason with the money due to Lofton and Hawthorne and the unknowns with Humbers show me deal and Butler coming off an injury. But, Mosley is really the only LB Id want in the first. Van Noy in the 2nd. Im really looking forward to this draft.

its so hard to balance future needs with immediate needs and value. This is why i love the draft.

Immediate needs:
WR
C
CB
OLB

Future needs:
G
ILB
RB
DT

G and ILB are huge future needs. Grubbs and Hawthorne will most likely get the boot going forward.
