We've seen a lot of change over the past few years, with many trends coming and going.

I think we can all agree that the scene has drastically changed for the better since K. A huge influx of all kinds of things that we have never had in the past.

The craft cocktail places, Vietnamese food, other asian fusion eateries, some pretty good mexican places, Caribbean restaurants, some molecular gastronomy, bagels...the eclectic scene in the bywater...all of it has really taken off.

But what are we still missing right now? What trends are we way behind on? What kind of restaurant or bar would you like to see break into the area and gain a foothold in NOLA?

What places? My wife and I were in New Orleans over the weekend and wanted Mexican on Sunday but we couldn't think of anywhere worth going.

I'd like to see more and better Asian offerings outside of the Vietnamese proliferation.

I'd like ONE decent tex-mex type place.

Taqueria Geurrera is pretty good.

We certainly could get much better in the mexican scene, especially "upscale mexican" and tex mex.

We actually have better caribbean/latin fusion offerings than mexican, now that I think about it.

Noodle&Pie, Lucky Rooster...places like that have started to take off.

Oh and in terms of mexican, I forgot about Casa Borrega on OCH. That place is pretty good.

Hell we even have decent arepas now, so we are really getting some variety imo.

We have a few solid authentic Mexican joints.

We could use more brew pubs. Courtyard is opening this summer and I heard the Cajun Fire people are looking in the garden district too.

Good Italian is needed

I'd like to see some expansion outside of Uptown, WHD, Quarter and the Marigny/Bywater areas. Show lakeview and Metairie some love people!

This is the place by Canal & Carrollton? I agree that this is the one legitimate taqueria in this city.

The one place I'd like to see NO cuisine improve is not restaurants but grocery/produce selection and availability. Better farmers' markets etc.

eta: Also agree on the lack of choices in Lakeview/Metry although Bucktown has good choices and is basically the last remaining bastion of old-school New Orleans.

A competent city government that can adopt the proposed comprehensive zoning ordinance and abolish the Riverbend liquor license moratorium.

There are a few ethiopian places now.

Milkfish is finally opening a brick and mortar location on Carrollton, so Filipino food will be covered.

A really good texmex place would be good.

Better ramen selections and more upscale asian (although Cafe Minh is really good).

I would like to see a really really good store that basically only sells craft beer. Really hard ones to find.

we are pretty stacked..I'm struggling to think of anything. I would say maybe more/better Italian, but that's not really a favorite cuisine of mine at all. Maybe upscale Indian?

Taqueria Corona is shite.

We have some really good latin food and south American joints, but yes we are lacking a great Tex Mex restaurant.

Like Wise said, a brewpub (especially one on Magazine) a la Cigar City brew pub or even Old Rail would be fricking killer.

need an actual good Thai restaurant.
