Is IPO still worth going to?

I was planning on going there tonight, but the more I look into it, the more I'm reconsidering. I liked it when I went over a year ago, but I've gotten the impression that it's fizzling (I know there was a kitchen turnover in the last year). I saw a groupon for it recently, and some of the recent yelp reviews are awful. I would say to hell with it and try it anyway if I wasn't worried about spending way too much money there. What's the verdict? And if not where else should I go instead?

I won't complain about spending money if I feel satisfied with the experience, but IPO felt a little overpriced for the product.

I have a friend who lives downtown and eats there regularly and says he thinks it has gotten better.

Who knows... If you haven't been in a while, you should check it out.

I went about a month ago, and I just didn't enjoy the experience that much. From the booming of the club upstairs to the expensive small plates, I think I'd rather go somewhere else for that price point.

Sure, if you like salty food.

I've seen you post this a couple of times, and I'm sure you probably did get a salty meal, but I had no problems with the salt, neither did the large group I was with, or anybody I've ever talked to.

I'm in the same boat, I'd go back if I was asked to go, but probably wouldn't be on my list.

I probably spent about $150 for my wife and I with tip, and I was the only one drinking(likely middle of the road bourbon). At that price point, I'm expecting a little more than I got. I'm sure they probably have a high rent to cover.

Much better places in town to spend your money at than that dump! When I went with a group of people, food was horrible! And then the bill came and made the experience even worse!

Alright, I've read enough. Not going there. I don't need to spend $150 for a few small plates and two beers. Maybe for lunch sometime.

FWIW, I have never had a bad experience there. Food has always been decent to really good.

If I had a problem with it, it would be the inconsistency. I'll have one of the greatest dishes in BR one time, then the next it is just alright. Wish they would change up the menu a lot more and have new stuff every couple months.

As for spending 150 + tip I don't know where that came from. I would believe 100 + tip with a few drinks. Unless you or going for that expensive burger, filet, a couple tapas items, salad and some soup I don't see how you eclipse $150 with just two people.

Guess it depends what you consider middle of the road bourbon.

I went once. It was early on and I thought it was so so. I for sure did not spend 150 for me and my girl. It was more like 75 I believe. I had a few beers and her a few drinks. I do want to check it out again since I know there have been changes.

The menu looks relatively the same from when I last went. I'll probably go for lunch instead.

It was roughly $150 with tip not +.

But, for a couple we did the small plate deal and maybe got 5 small plates and 1 dessert and split them. ~$75. ~$9/drink and 4 drinks.

$110 + tax = $120 + tip = $140-$150.

Really isn't hard to do for a couple. I didn't need to have 4 drinks, but I wanted to and we were there for a pretty good while. Could've easily been 2 drinks each and got the same result.

I have reservations there for a month from now (special occasion) but haven't been as of yet. Was considering going soon.

Like I said, I guess it's what you order. With what I would choose on the menu I would be at $104 + tip. Worth it to me at that price.

We've never spent that much, and always leave full

The first time we went, we over-ordered so now we've learned.. 3-4 small plates is PLENTY for us. Get a couple cocktails, and you're not looking at that outrageous a bill.

Of course, this is my take on sushi too. Sushi isn't cheap, but we never spend what people say they spend. Either we eat much less than most people, or you people can put down some food
A few pieces of sashimi.. hamachi kama app.. a roll or two depending on the place.. a couple beers.. we usually spend no more than $70.

Completely agree. Went once and left very "meh".. but I've also been and been wowed. That tends to make me order the things that wowed me rather than try new things.

They had an outstanding escargot small plate special last time, and it was stuffed in a bread bowl..

I have spent $150 in sushi, but usually I have enough to feed me for the next 2 days when I leave.

Do you ever come to this board and not shite on the topic at hand?

And then the bill came and made it worse? Did you not see the prices on the menu when you ordered?
