Why you shouldn't hate Bryce Harper

I know this guy gets a ton of hate and I believe a lot of it is unwarranted. Sure he has a moxie about him that might rub people the wrong way but the author of this article does a nice job helping the reader understand what makes Harper tick.

There is a link within the article that takes you to another interview he did this offseason. I recommend it also.

I don't know if this has been posted or not. The search function and myself seem to have issues on this site. So if it's already posted...don't be the dick that says "Germans".

LOL, I knew this would be one of the first responses. I guess now that it's sorta outta the way, go ahead and read the article.

I think a lot of the hate for the guy comes from others who are jealous.

You can't tell me that you wouldn't trade places with the guy.

Jealous? No, dude's a prick and plays on a rival team. He's easy to dislike.

I enjoyed the article. It's about baseball and one of its most polarizing players. It's not intended to win the Pulitzer.

No, the hate comes from him coming off as a jackass.

If it's a jealously thing, then why aren't people hating on Mike Trout?

Because Trout isn't as brash as Harper.

Trout wasn't on the cover of SI when he was 16.

Trout has been a pleasant surprise for many people and because he wasn't regarded as the next big thing and thrust into the spotlight the way Harper was, people don't hate on him.

I like them both but there's no doubt Harper came in with hype so big that it's going to be virtually impossible for him to live up to the expectations that the media put on him.

He admitted in the article, he knew he should hit the cut off man but wanted to show his arm off instead. That may be why people hate on him

I don't really know enough about Bryce to hate him, but his brother came off as a douchey attention whore during the HR derby last year.

meh, he's already met a ton of those expectations. If he was playing in the 80s, or even 90s, people would be praising all of the things they hate about him.

I have said this before but Harper is one of those players that I absolutely hate bc of the team he is on... he can do no right in my eyes. With that said, I would absolutely love him if he was on my team.

He also said he wouldn't have done that in the regular season. Matt Williams seemed ok with it.

No big deal in my opinion.

I don't think he said he wanted to "show his arm off" only that he hadn't let one go yet in the spring.

I'd trade places with a ton of MLB players. Has nothing to do with whether they're a douchebag or not.
