Not highbrow, but Union Oyster House has awesome chowder, a great raw bar and a bunch of history. The North End is full of great Italian.

Faneuil Hall Marketplace - Downtown. Really nice food court and market. Get a lobster roll while you are there.

Have a look

I was in Boston for 3 days and the only thing I ate was an omelot the first morning and a burger at the Patriots stadium. The rest of my meals consisted of beer and other party favors

I asked the same question about 6 months ago and got some good responses. LINK

Our favorite 2 places were
Giacomo's on Hanover LINK
and
Neptune Oyster on Salem LINK

Here is the review from my trip that I never actually posted:

Sat Lunch - Atlantic Fish Co - Cold lobster roll and clam chowder bread bowl. Both were good. The clam chowder may have been the best of the trip.

Sat Afternoon - Baseball Tavern for the LSU vs aTm game. Fun group. Not as rowdy as I was expecting, but solid LSU atmosphere. Severe lack of craft brew options but oh well .

Sat Dinner - grabbed a quick slice of pizza from a local chain because of the travel and being drunk from the game.

Sun breakfast and lunch were both quick due to tour timing and it being 5 degrees w/ wind chill. Miserably cold for 2 south Louisianians

Sunday dinner - Giacomo's - absolutely amazing. I think we timed the trip well with the holiday because we were seated right away despite the popularity and size (or lack thereof of the place). Calamari for an app, she got lobster ravioli and I got a special... House made fusili with lobster and shrimp in a spicy red sauce. Both dishes were amazing. I'm not a huge Italian connoisseur but the fusili was the best pasta I've ever had. Came out of there at $85 including a bottle of wine and tip. $85 was awesome relative to the price of everything else in Boston.

Monday Lunch - at the Boathouse near Harvard in Cambridge. Got a salmon burger and she got a chicken sandwich. Nothing spectacular, but it was decent. Nice little pub right off of campus.

Monday dinner - Union Oyster House. One word - over... Overrated and overpriced. Everything was decent but nothing was awesome. And it was very very pricey. You are definitely paying for the novelty. Service was very slow as well.

Tuesday Lunch. - Neptune Oyster. Spectacular. We got half a dozen oysters and a hot lobster roll each. Pricey but awesome lunch.

Tuesday dinner - ate on a brew tour. Pizza, but I cant remember the name of the place. It was good pizza but I wasn't overwhelmed. The brewery tour was fun though if you're in to craft beer. LINK My favorite brewery was Night Shift LINK

My favorite place was Bricco on Hanover St., the braised veal shanks in white beans was on of the best dishes I ever ate. Then a short walk to Modern Pastry to have something to bring back to the hotel room.

I'm not standing in line for cannoli . I'm obviously in the minority because regardless of time a day we passed, there was a line down the street.

I know Thanksgiving week probably isn't peak tourism season in Boston, but there were no lines at all at Mike's Pastry when I went. We weren't planning on going, but we had to walk past it when we were leaving dinner and it wasn't crowded so we grabbed one to split. I was pretty underwhelmed. Maybe I'm just not a big cannoli guy. I definitely wouldn't wait in line for it.
