What ever happened with his recruitment on national signing day? Germans as hell most likely but the ole miss 247 mods were saying one thing (parents wouldn't let him go to ole miss) and the LSU 247 guys were saying another. Does anyone know what actually happened

First off, did you have to make the word bold to make the reason for the question? lol

But also, coming to TD for that kind of answer isn't the best idea.

Because Shea should be trusted in regards to the '14 class lol.

I know 100% that Godchaux called the UF staff the evening before NSD, so I believe the Ole Miss stuff.

It was a rumor that ole miss writers ran with. Thus, no one knows and very few will ever know.

For what it's worth, Gator knows his UF football recruiting and I trust what he says on here.

To say that he was signing with Ole Miss or UF?

It is pretty common for players to contact coaches the night before NSD to let them know they are heading somewhere else.

Are you saying that he told the UF coaches he was headed somewhere other than LSU?

Otherwise, that phone call is pretty meaningless in this discussion.

Theres a poster on here that is really close with the Godchaux family. Hes even been on a few recruiting trips with Davon. Im sure he can shed some light on what happened.

But regardless, he signed with LSU and we got him. Im thrilled to have him. Hes going to be 1 of the better players from this class. Hes a monster with ridiculous athleticism and potential.

Florida and Ole Miss were never gonna happen. Somebody in the landmass was trying to save face for reporting that Davon was going there and Florida wasn't a factor for a long time, once the personal safety issue was resolved.

His entire recruiting saga was interesting. I might be off on some details, but LSU honored his commitment, though he took visits to UCLA and Ole Miss, possibly to try and steer other recruits to the Tigers. Then on NSD, there were reports he possibly favored Ole Miss, but still signed with the Tigers with his mother's blessing.

But all that is in the past and easily his biggest challenge is recovering fully from his injury and getting himself in a position to challenge for playing time on the DL. I think he'll likely be a strong candidate to contribute by 2015.

I think the Ole Miss salesmen pressured him. He liked it there, and they talked him into faxing.

Meanwhile, Davon knew it was unsigned. Seems like he was trying to give them some kind of consolation prize.
