Paycheck Fairness Act - Mary trying like hell to get women of LA on her side

Dear Friend,
Louisiana women make 67 cents to every dollar a man makes. Think if the women in your family had a tax on their paycheck that took 33 percent of their total pay just because they're a woman.
On average, that's $1,300 a month or almost $16,000 a year. That could be a down payment on a home, or two years of tuition at LSU for her child, or two and a half years of groceries.
What would $1,300 extra a month mean to your family?
Click here to share what it would mean and make your voice heard.
Our sisters, mothers and daughters in Louisiana and the country deserve our support, and the Senate should support the Paycheck Fairness Act.
Sadly, Louisiana ranks second-to-last in equal pay for women. Equal pay is not only about women; it's also about supporting and strengthening middle class families so they can build a prosperous future for themselves and their communities.
The Paycheck Fairness Act closes loopholes that allow employers to escape liability even when gender-based wage discrimination exists. It also includes protections for employees against retaliation for disclosing or discussing their salaries, as well as ensures employees have the same remedies for gender-based pay discrimination as other forms of discrimination such as race or national origin.
Tell me: What would $1,300 more a month mean to your family?
Sincerely, Mary

So in the demented mind of Miss Piggy, someone making more means the person earning less was TAXED more?
she is a US senator. good god.

Such an easily manipulated statistic, but it might break her mind to do a comparison between men and women with equal positions of equal experience.

I'm not sure what makes me more upset:
1) The constant victimization of individuals by those in power
or
2) The fact that these individuals actually buy into it and create a society based solely on entitlement for some made up disadvantage.

You missed the WORST part.
Even if you buy the stat, the idea that some govt bill getting passed is going to actually result in $1300 more per month in these people's households is so stupid that it borders on insanity.
You can believe the stat without being so fricking stupid you think that passing that act will mean that all of a sudden, a bunch of individual women will get raises. Hell, you can buy the stat and still not be stupid enough to think that ALL women are underpaid in comparison to men.
But, idiots gonna idiot.

If she is really trying to get the female vote she should just run on her deciding vote on Obamacare.
I mean birth control and all!

So I guess we should pay the waitress as much as the underwater welder makes.

Dear Mary,
How long have you been in Washington? This issue of income inequality is a major problem. The fact you have been in Washington for 17 years and have never addressed the issue of gender income inequality tells me you are the hater of women's rights. I blame you for women in Louisiana receiving lower wages...why do you insist on keeping the women of Louisiana down? Who are you blaming this problem on and if it is a real problem why haven't you fixed it in 17 years in Washington.

This narrative is just so, so, so dumb. Probably one of the worst ones out there.
I'd really like to see comps of people in similar fields/job roles. This issue would disappear.
Men still probably make slightly more, but that's because in general they'd be more dependable just due to family dynamics.

Why would a company ever hire a man if they can get away with paying women 70 cents on the dollar?

Nonsense.
The perfect example of appealing to low-information voters.

That's actually a good point. Never thought of that before.

You think Mary doesnt know that the government already has the EEOC who loves to go after compaines? Come on Mary you know as well as i do, this is one of the exact things the EEOC is there to protect. There are many reasons for the different in pay. But any woman can already get help if they feel their being under paid. But, she knows democrats beleive everything their told to beleive.

Male privilege? There must be a cabal of evil white guys who just don't want to share their booty with other genders.
Dems are getting shrill, and I take that as a good sign for the immediate future.

The same part that will tell you that a companies are basically motivated ONLY by greed and would pay you a penny an hour if they could get away with it ALSO want you to believe they willfully overpay by 30% just because of the fact you have stones in your pants.
