charges because, hey, Bitcoin isn't money.

quote:

The IRS recently ruled that Bitcoin is property, not a "monetary instrument." And now the attorney for alleged Silk Road founder Ross Ulbricht is arguing that his client must be innocent of money laundering because Bitcoin officially isn't money, reports Wired.

And this is great. A Free Ross Ulbricht website where you can donate your hard earned money to his legal defense.

45 minutes and not one comment on a bitcoin thread. What is this board coming to?

With BTC hitting a new 30 day low this morning and still dropping, bitcoin is becoming, as Joey Tribiani said on "Friends" a 'moo point.'

ETA: Since wiki started his "predict the value of btc on 12/31/14" thread on 1/2/14, btc has lost almost 50% of its market value.

This would be more awesome if you provided a link to the thread so we could make some in-game commentary so to speak.

@OP - the judge can "find" that the IRS ruling is incorrect, after all.

The search function works well now. Click on the "Search" link, click on "more options," enter "wikitiger" in the author space and "12/31/2014" in the key word space. Here is what you get:

Eta: btc now at $420.

Am I safe to assume we won't be getting quarterly status reports similar to those you prepare for your annual prediction contest?

He only posts when the price skyrockets. It's time to eat some humble pie imo

I haven't looked them up but have they been posting elsewhere? Or just went *poof*?

Joshie got sent to the time-out room for a couple of weeks after blowing up in a btc thread on here in early March.

He's back posting occasionally on the Poli Board. I think it might be a condition of his parole to avoid the Money Talk Board....

That is pretty amusing. IRAs are prohibited from investing in collectibles. That is one of the reasons why I thought the IRS would classify Bitcoins as collectibles, to prevent people from investing their retirement savings in Bitcoins.
