Seismic activity has been running high the last few weeks with numerous earthquakes reported over the western half of the United States. On Sunday Yellowstone national park became the focus for yet another event when a 4.8 magnitude earthquake struck one of our countries largest national parks.

The magnitude 4.8 earthquake was the biggest recorded quake since February 1980 which is the strongest in 34 years!

Scientists report that if the super volcano erupted it would decimate the United States with ash and affect the entire earth. Many people are concerned about seismic activity, suspecting the super volcano is due for an eruption.

A number of bloggers are posting videos that show bison and other animals allegedly leaving Yellowstone National Park, prompting theories that as earthquakes ramp up the seismic activity will set off the Yellowstone supervolcano.

Two of the main bloggers behind the discussion stress that there’s no way to know when the supervolcano will go off but note that the 4.8 magnitude earthquake that hit on March 30 seemed to set off a reaction from the animals, who are moving for a reason.

“Whether I believe this, or whether I don’t believe the story or not, I don’t know. I can tell you this story I saw this morning about the buffaloes running the street … whether or not it’s because of any activity in Yellowstone or not, I don’t know,” said blogger Jay Lee, who posted a story on his site tatoott1009.com.

“But I’ll tell you this, whatever the case may be, that their running away from Yellowstone is an alert of some sort.”

If it does it, I hope it's before 4/15. I really don't feel like having to file may taxes (and paying what I suspect I will have to pay).

Yeah...Wyoming doesn't share a border with Nevada. I have a hard time believing an article that can't even get simple fricking geography correct.

painful read IMO

You can see the power of a volcano from the interstate when driving by St. Helens. The top of the mountain is blown off and you can look inside, Yellowstone will be mega. Over due could be tomorrow or a thousand years from now.

Yellowstone will not blow in our lifetime...just like the sun won't explode, a world destroying meteor won't come crashing down on us, etc...

The earth has survived for billions of years, I'm sure it can survive a billion more

I have read a lot about these super volcanoes. I just still can't wrap my mind around the claims that the entire country would be covered in ash. I just don't believe it's possible.

ooooooooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrr you can actually quote the whole article

quote:

Peter Cervelli of The US Geological Survey says this particular rattle is nothing to worry about and the caldera is not about to erupt. The earthquake is interesting though because of the amount of time between the two strongest tremors. The data scientists will collect from the event will add to the insight of volcanoes and tectonics, he added. But this particular super volcano is still sleeping and should bring no concern.

hmmmm someone from the USGS or a blogger from tatoott1009.com, who has more credit
