Hey guys! I wanted to invite you all to the Austin Derby Fest coming up on Saturday, May 3 in Downtown Austin. I was born in Shreveport and all my family lives in Baton Rouge. I figured this would be a great place to post what I'm doing. If y'all want to check out the line-up and details please visit : Austin Derby Fest
Highlighting local and national bands, we are bringing the latest and greatest of folk-rock, outlaw country, bluegrass and Americana music to our stage in Austin this May. Our lineup will showcase the undeniably diverse Deer Tick, as well as, the legendary Ray Wylie Hubbard. Austin favorites will include, The Dirty River Boys, Whiskey Shivers, Possessed by Paul James and MilkDrive. In addition to killer musical performances, the festival will feature several Austin-area food trucks as well as Trifecta on 3rd and the 140th Kentucky Derby.
The festival is our brainchild that sprung from our love of music, bourbon and the Kentucky Derby.
Tickets to the all day event will range from general admission to VIP. General admission tickets will start at just $20 and guarantee you all-day access to the festival where you'll be treated to some of the best food, drink and live music in town. For those of you wanting the ultimate experience we are offering VIP tickets at $75. VIP guests will have exclusive access to Trifecta on 3rd complete with indoor restrooms, outdoor patios, private bar, air conditioning and flat screen TVs. All of our festival guests will be treated to a live viewing of the 140th "most exciting two minutes in sports" on our Jumbotron.
So, I would really appreciate y'all to come on out on May 3, 2014 for the first annual Austin Derby Fest. Whether you're looking to sport your biggest hat and seersucker suit, listen to award-winning music, or just sip on one of the best mint juleps in town, the Austin Derby Fest is going to be rocking.
Thanks y'all! If anything...tell me what you think!
Daniel

God I want to move to Austin, Ashville, or Nashville

LSUvegasbombed do it! Austin is seriously amazing. And man, I drive to New Orleans every year for the Voodoo Music Experience and that's an 8 hour haul. It's only a 6 hour drive from Baton Rouge to Austin. I do it regularly.
Come on down! It's going to be awesome.

Thanks Flair Chops...took me nearly a year to lock everyone down. It has been a long haul and I'm trying my hardest to make sure we have one hell of a turn out!

Tamubro, you might want to fix the link in your first post.
Also, do you have any media tie-ins such as KGSR or KUTX? Radio likes to plan things way in advance but you might get away with a last minute large-scale ticket giveaway.

I'll definitely be there. The DRBs are my BFFs.
Seriously, though...awesome line-up. Much rather do this than Lone Star Jam this year.
Also, I crashed a party during SX and accidentally saw Milkdrive and they are LEGIT.

Anyone want to rec me some Deer Tick songs? I dig their not-so-dark stuff, (Baltimore Blues, 21 Miles, etc)...

Also, Dirty River Boys will be at Mud + Water in Baton Rouge on the 19th of this month if any of you want to check them out but can't make the trip to TX. I'll be there too so you can introduce yourselves and buy me a whiskey

big deterrent is i would have to stay in br, because once they play riverbed wildflowers, i'd probably drink too much whiskey to allow me to efficiently operate a motor vehicle

Make a friend, crash on their couch. It's on a Saturday! It's going to be SUCH a fun show and it's a new market for them so we're trying to get some people in the door. Songs from the new album and everything.

Thanks DoctorTechnical! Got it fixed!
We plan on working with KGSR the week before our event with ticket give-a-ways/mentions/and 15 to 30 second spots throughout the day. I'm hoping that will help with our draw for sure.
Radio definitely isn't cheap. Would love to be able to get on KUTX. I think every band has performed inside the KUTX studio.

Not sure how, I have a place to stay for that show...and in real life
I'm merely suggesting that Flair shouldn't let a tiny little detail like too much whiskey deter him from attending what will be an awesome show.

L Boogie! That's awesome bro! Rent you a van and drag your friends
And you are definitely right...MilkDrive are phenomenal and The Dirty River Boys are flat blowing up.
Dude! Awesome that you'll make it!

haha, i could find a place to crash, but i don't like doing that.
it's one of those things, if you are looking for excuses, you'll always find them type deals. i'm leaving at the end of this month and trying to spend time with the family and save a little scratch as well.
i am, however, highly pissed off that AA played hattiesburg and i didn't know about it until two days after the fact.
