These lists always cause so much drama, but to be honest the top 10 are probably some underground flamenco dudes we've never heard of. That being said, legendary status aside, trucks is better than Clapton on guitar.

Geez....I'll have to think about this one considering there has never been a thread on this topic.

I don't disagree with the content of your top 6, necessarily, although I'd be open to a much wider group of 100 guys, but, OMG:

Tom Morello

John Mayer

Don't belong anywhere near a list like this. If Morello woke up with 1/4 of Kim Thayil's talent - tomorrow - he'd die from absolute shock.

So, Mayer is ahead of guys like Chuck Berry, B.B. King, Carlos Santana, James Burton, Petrucci, Jerry Cantrell, Mike McCready, Eddie Van Halen, Joe Satriani, Les Paul, Phil Collen, David Gilmour, the aforementioned Kim Thayil, Eric Johnson, Richie Blackmore, Tony Iommi, Brian May, Mick Taylor, Jeff Beck and about 1000 other guys?

(And I like John Mayer...)

Not hardly - I doubt there was a guitarist just in the band The Yardbirds that wasn't a better guitarist.

SRV is very overrated on this board. He is better than Hendrix? Really?

I saw a documentary on him. I could barely listen to it. I know lots follow him, but that stile is just not for me at all.
