I am approaching sixty so it is possible that my thoughts are different from current trends. I still believe in building a baseball team the traditional way. Your third baseman and first baseman must be competent as fielders, but they should have decent averages and hit with power. Particularly when you look at third base, LSU has not done this in years. Your catcher, shortstop, second baseman, and center fielder should be outstanding defensive players. The baseman, shortstop, and center fielder should be contact hitters who seldom strike out and have the ability to move runners. The catcher should have some power and drive in runs. The left fielder should be one of your better hitters and need not be a great outfielder. The right fielder should also be able to swing the lumber and have a good throwing arm. I am not going to criticize LSU pitching, because over the years we have had quite a bit of talent there and still do. We come up woefully short at third, catcher, and to a degree in the outfield in terms of offensive ability. You have to work at recruiting and also developing players.

Would be to hit a 3 run home run with your 7-hole hitter.
