Rasco and Hunter have the starting job locked up in my eyes... Whose backing them up... I like Tashawn Bower and Jordan Allen...

Jordan Allen is the definite #3. After that its kind of shaky as of right now.

Bower, Allen, Neal, Patterson, Clark?

Allen will be the 3rd DE in rotation though. And Ive heard good things about Bower and Neal.

Allen and Hunter are probably interchangeable at this point. I really like Allen though.

Hunter was our best DE the last 8 games last year. He and Allen arent interchangeable.

Allen was really effective at the beginning of the year. Don't write him off just yet.

Im not writing him off at all. Like him a lot.

But Hunter is our best DE.

Wouldnt mind if Allen came in for Rasco on passing situations. I like Rasco. Hes a solid player. Just not too explosive.

Agreed. Rasco is more of a run stopper.

Def could be. Once he got comfortable out there vs SEC teams, he was a monster. Played at a VERY high level the last 7 or so games last year.

He and Kwon are our best front 7 players no doubt.

I wonder about the starting DTs - LaCouture and Bain?

Yea I think Loc and Bain are our 2 best DTs.

But QT will get the nod over Bain early on due to his experience compared to the other DTs.

Actually Allen is #1. For now. Rosco is out.

Did anyone say anything about who is better between those 2? No. One is a DE, one is a LB. Cant really compare that. All I said is Kwon and Hunter are our top 2 players in the front 7.

Keep underestimating Rasco who was our best d-lineman last year and will be our best this year as well. He got better throughout the year also and was dominating at the end of the year.

As far as the claim he is just a run stuffer, what games have you guys been watching? You'd better compare his stats for sacks and TFL. He plays left DE whose responsibilities are a bit different from the right DE, which is normally the QB's blindside.

At any rate, it is a good problem to have. Two high performing starting DEs. With a 3rd who is starter quality. And a couple of others who are not far behind. All the new starting QBs in the SEC are in for a very rude awakening.

Nobody is underestimating Rasco. Hes a solid DE.

Rasco had 56tackles, 4 sacks and 6.5 TFL, and 8 QB hurries.

Hunter had 57tackles, 3 sacks, 8TFL, and 5 QB hurries.

And you gotta remember that Hunter played a good bit less than Rasco did last year, especially during the 1st few games. During the last half of the season, Hunter was a monster and very disruptive. He turned into 1 of our top players on the entire D.

Again, Rasco is a good DE. So is Hunter. The difference is Hunter could become a great DE. Just beginning to get into his potential. And it sounds like hes taking that next step in his career.

I agree with your post. And I am happy with the young guys stepping up behind them. This defense has the potential to be elite this year. Rasco and Hunter are two of the best in the SEC. With Allen a solid back up.
