Unless something drastic changes, it doesn't seem like the Tigers will sign a QB in February. I don't see any top top names showing major interest due to the fact that we have a lot of young talent in line. Now, next year, I would say we go hard after a top 5 guy and get him...

If we don't look good for any national recruits we will move on Pellerin this summer IMO.

we absolutely HAVE to take a qb THIS year. if bh wins the starting job (at any time this season), then both rettig and Jennings may be gone. what would we be left with then.

I'm in favor of taking at least one QB per year. It's the most important position and you can't have lack of depth there for any reason.

I understand kids want an opportunity to play early and who can blame them. But I would rather sign a QB that is not afraid of a little competition. Hypothetically, if Harris wins the job as starter as a true freshman, one of two scenarios can play out.

1. If he is the real deal, chances are he's gone in 3 years which would make next year's signee a RS Soph when he takes over which leaves them 3 years to prove himself.

2. Harris underperforms opening up a battle for the starting spot next year.

To quote CLM, I want a QB with the "chest" to not shy away from competition. QB is a position you can't gamble with. If a recruit doesn't live up to expectations, you better have an answer waiting in the wings

Would of course be devestating especially if Retig decides to go elsewhere from lack of interest and playing time from the coaching staff. That would leave Harris and Jennings only. Are we gonna go back to counting on having one QB if the other gets hurt? It seems the only drawback for Retig is if he can pitch the ball running the "option". We know he has a great arm.

Virtually every report has him behind the other two in throwing the ball.

Virtually every report only focuses on the other two as well though. The other two intrigue the people writing the reports. Just look at the videos posted. Even with equal time in drills the focus is always on te other two. Also if you watch the videos it seems Cam is spending most of his time with Harris. Even when others do something well, Cam tells Harris, "See how he did that Brandon?" We're just seeing snippets though. Just have to trust Cam since he sees them day in as day out. He'll make the best choice to put the team in the best position to win.

They take at least one per year here on out and focus on character guys. LSU learned from the Perilloux debacle that QBs are pivotal.

1 of the best QBs in the nation next year, Torrance Gibson, def has interest in us. He literally was just here for a visit.

This thread....

Oh and even if we dont take a QB, go check out the 2016 crop of QBs in the state of LA. Loaded.

I'd imagine the staff wants to take a QB each season as well. Still a long way to go with this class.

People act like it's Harris' job to lose, and that's hilarious. The QB position isn't set for 2014 yet, but Jennings is definitely the favorite.
