Having your real ID turned down

I just had my legitimate ID turned away at Whole Foods on Magazine while buying beer. They said that it "looked too weird." I'm 27 and was wearing a suit. I didn't feel like putting up a fight, not to mention that the floor manager came over and also rejected me even though I explained I got it from the DMV last week.
Anyone have similar experiences? Do I have any recourse here? Since when are the check out ladies at Whole Foods experts on identification?

I don't know how I would react. If I were 22 I would have probably raised all hell. But now that I am 26, I would probably raise all hell.

There was a family with a million groceries behind me, so I didn't want to put them through hell with me. I also really didn't need the beer, it was an impulse buy

That new ID hasn't gotten around yet. Very poor job of informing everyone.

In some states you could claim being discriminated against if you're gay but otherwise they aren't obligated to sell you an apple if they don't feel like it, so no.

Well those cashiers will certainly feel stupid in a week when people start pouring in with the same "weird" ID

My law school buddies and I were at the Goldmine (shite show bar in French Quarter) one night, probably our third year or shortly after, and my friend got thrown out, despite numerous attempts by him and us to show them he was of age. We even showed our law school IDs in hopes they'd figure out he wasn't Doogie Howser but nope.

I look like a kid. I've had my ID turned down several times. Even had a cop try and detain me for giving him a false ID. Hasn't happened in a few years. 26 or 27 was the last time someone gave me shite.

You should meet my friend with similar problems. He's lucky he is starting to grey up a bit.
