Anybody else been getting these notices about calling in and verifying your alumni information? Seems fishy like they are going to sell me something.

Anybody called the number?

They want you to buy the directory. Updating your information is free and good for you to receive updates from your college and the university.

Yup, what Golfer says. The price of the directory is absurd but it's good to keep your info up to date with them.

Pretty sure there's no official affiliation with LSU there. They've got all my contact info. How else are they sending this?

LSU AA contracted with solicitation company to call on alums and update info. 3rd party puts together directory, splits revenue with AA and gives AA updated data.

When I'm talking about giving back to LSU, I'm not talking about buying the directory.

I understand that. I still don't get why, in this day and age, if you're right, LSU would choose to get in bed with such a ridiculous scam as someone selling physical "alumni directories." Seems utterly pointless on many levels.

Ask the AA. I would assume the AA doesn't have the capacity to call as many just to update.

They could set up a bot to send out emails for folks to update on their own, just as easily as this silly scam, though.

No need for an alumni directory anywhere but online.

You're assuming they have the correct email address. And phone call rates of return is still higher.

The point is there's no harm for the OP or anyone to give them their most up to date info and decline the directory.

I updated my info. It takes very little time to do so and a simple no thank you for the directory is not the worst thing in the world.

Its a scam. If they didn't have your correct contact information how would you get the notices?

Phone numbers more often remain constant than addresses. And I'm pretty sure they also get your email address which is more fluid.

They have my correct email address and mailing address which is how I am getting the requests. I did away with my land line and I am not giving them my cel phone.

What else do they need to know?
