Recently started watching and I'm almost done with the 2nd season and I think it's a really good show. I've watched all of the other must-watch Netflix series such as FNL, BB, HoC, etc.

But I never see this show mentioned when people ask for show suggestions. What are yalls thought on it?

Great initial few seasons but falls off at the end. Can't remember exactly...been a while. I think after the season where something happens to one of Tommy's family members.

I forget which season, but it takes a nose dive and never finds it's way back.

It's been about 7 years since I've watched, but lost interest around the 3rd-4th season. Tommy's alcoholic act gets old after a while, but supporting cast is what makes the show IMO. Underrated comedy as well.

First 3 seasons are great. Takes a tumble after that but has it's moments.

Seasons 1-3 were awesome. Afterward the show just dropped off and the final season was complete shite imo.

I start watching on netflix. When it got the 3-4 season it turned into a full blown soap opera. I then looked and the had about 60 episodes left and said frick that.

Denis Leary has a new show on USA called Sirens. It is EMT first responders. Fast paced comedy. I hope it last a few years.

It was a show that wore out its welcome. I really loved the first 2 seasons though, and I stuck with it through 4 just out of goodwill. I wish I had stopped after S3.

Still, I love what Jon Stewart told Denis Leary, "It's a show so good I can't believe that you are on it."

Great early, great in spots - a little too inconsistent to be included in the GOAT discussion (The Wire, The Shield, The Sopranos, Breaking Bad etc.), but I consider it a little brother to those guys, in terms of quality.

The acting and writing on the show bordered on outstanding at times. Such a fine line between very good and great and this show straddles that line.

ETA: And to echo the thoughts of others - this was more of a comedy with dramatic elements, that a true drama - when they got away from that, the show suffered - as far as a show like this, it did comedy about as well as any show ever, and I'm talking Hill Street Blues, St. Elsewhere, plus the new greats - all more focused on the drama, but good enough to pull off comedic moments - regularly and organically.

I would say only House (and I'm not a huge fan, but credit, where credit is due) - does comedy in serious situations as well as Rescue Me - at least for my money.

I liked it, and just finished the entire series a few weeks ago. It does get a little weird in the later seasons, but it still kept me entertained.

Thought the first couple of years were decent even though I can't stomach Denis Leary but it fell out of favor rather quickly.

I could only take so much of Tommy Gavin's ridiculous life. We get it, you're a drunk and a douche. Bad combo.
