So students who pay their own way are students but those who get scholarships are employees?

scholarship "paychecks" go to admissions at the university not the athletes.

If it stands, the ruling's going to open up all kinds of legal problems. What's stopping the band members from unionizing, there are band scholarships. What's stopping choir members? It's just ridiculous and that's why I think this gets struck down.

Would I be an employee of Wheel of Fortune if they compensate me with a trip to Hawaii?

Definitely a giant slippery slope. I can't wait for women's golf teams to unionize.

No, the definition they gave yesterday was

1) You have to perform a service
2) You have to be compensated

Also, do I have to put my college playing days on my employment history of a job application?

having fun on the playing field hardly qualifies as a service in my opinion.

I appeared on Wheel of Fortune for their show. That was my service.

I was compensated with a trip.

Therefore I was an employee of Wheel of Fortune.
