We were in NOLA for Mardi Gras but it was a whirlwind visit. We are heading back for a week during the kids' spring break to relax, visit family, and hit up some spots.

On the list of places that I haven't tried yet:
Toups Meatery
Peche

What are some other good options that have popped up in the past couple of years?

I like your style, Boss.

Root, Sylvain, Atchafalaya, Butcher, Rue 127

also consider La Petite Grocery if you've never been.

The kids will be hanging with the grandparents, so they are a non-issue.

Yes Otis. We used to live here, so I've been to most of the staples. Clancy's, all of the Brennan restaurants, August, Cochon, Bayona, GW Fins, Herbsaint, Gautreau's. I used to work in the CBD so have hit up most for lunch or dinner with the wife.

Just looking for some new suggestions.

Excellent strategy OP

Excellent start to a list.

R2R mentioned a few good ones. I would add Coquette, Boucherie, and Maya's.

Maya's looks super interesting. Been to Coquette and Boucherie. If I had to choose between Root and Toups, what would you pick?

Take the kids to High Hat Cafe. Get the pimento cheese/picked vegetable/deviled egg appetizer platter.

Not even close.

As someone else stated, I find Toups inconsistent.

Coquette would make a nice date place. Toups is LEGIT.

OP

I would actually suggest Crescent Pie over Toups. Especially with kids.

All I can suggest is pack heat. I've lived here most of my life (54 years). Tonight, I witnessed an armed robbery committed by a pack of kids, caught 3 of them, and had them on their knees, waiting for cops. Had 4 different people call 911 and after 90 mins, kids fled and cops never showed. I love my city, but currently, avoid it at all costs.
