Stolen from the OT...did it really take a Houma cop 12 shots to kill a dog?

What type of weapon ??

Handguns ? -- probably a lot more than two. Shooting under stress, at a moving target = not easy to get great shot placement. And if a 130 pound bit bull is trying to get you, great shot placement would be needed for a quick stop.

Not sure how often they have to go to the range to qualify but Im pretty sure my hubby has to go once a month.

Hes terrible and usually has to go 2-3 times before he qualifies...Hes better at negotiating then shooting

Article I read said they shot it 3 times.

Don't matter though....... they should have shot to other one in the house too.

I guess I'll bring my story over here then
quote:

True story:
15 years or so ago there was a couple in my neighborhood that had a Doberman. Husband goes out of town with his brother and wife keeps brother's pit for the weekend. Saturday afternoon I hear shots and head over there knowing he was gone to make sure evrrything was ok. The pit had latched onto the Doberman's neck. She went and grabbed his 9mm and put 1 in the dog's ribcage and 1 in his neck. 3rd shot to the hip and the dog finally let go but turned towards her and lunged and she shot him in the jaw. 4 shots and the dog was still walking around growling.

Pitbulls are tough. A full grown male can take 3 full loads of 20 ga 7.5 shot through an xtra-full choke from 10-15 yds in the ribs/neck/head and run off 200 yds before laying down to die.

Nah I live in raceland and have been keeping up with this story. I have a 4 year old son who loves to play outside. I live by a boat launch where dogs use to get smayed all the time. I always have my lab and mut out when my kids are outside. At least they could be a buffer for my kids.

plus I never miss a good dog killing thread.

When my father in law was younger he put three 9mm rounds in a lab-sized mutt and it ran off and died down the road. He sold his 9 the next day and has had 45s ever since.

I put down a mutt that was terrorizing local dogs in a golf course/subdivision in the area. Took three 22lr between the eyes and didn't go down. Don't know what mix it was, about as big as a lab. Took a few more.

Cops around here wouldn't shoot. Said there had to be more than three complaints
