From their excellent Point Forward blog.

LINK

quote:

He has the soft touch of a skilled shooter, the blanket reach to anchor zone defensive principles, the vertical extension to dominate opponents on a different plane, the balance to slither through crowds on the pick-and-roll, the height and timing to rack up rebounds, and the ball control to improvise as necessary. Were a forward-thinking coach to list out the basketball qualities that would best position a player for NBA success, it would likely read similarly if it weren’t dismissed as wishful thinking. That arrangement of skills and size is fantastic in the purest definitional sense — so expansive that it hardly seems real.

Yet every minute of Davis’ season corroborates that it is very much so, as Pelicans opponents can well attest

Just the beginning. Read it all and enjoy

Many work from a space on the floor with precious little room for error, and the best draw the attention of multiple defenders in close quarters. Dwight Howard and Joakim Noah turn the ball over on more than 17 percent of their possessions as a result, while DeMarcus Cousins and Tyson Chandler commit turnovers on more than 15 percent of theirs. Andrew Bogut, for all his value otherwise, commits a turnover 19.5 percent of the time he uses a possession. Davis is in a different world entirely, having posted a turnover rate of just 8.6 — a range typically reserved for catch-and-shoot gunners who don’t hesitate long enough to lose control of the ball.

Great article. He's the man. It's crazy that he is this talented and still has more potential to unlock. I hope he's content in New Orleans for a long time. He seems to like the city and embrace the team

I think he looks at the city as a destiny for him.

SEC title game appearance in NOLA, NCAA title won in NOLA, possible NBA title win in NOLA if the team builds around him correctly.

3rd best player in the NBA right now.

Going to leapfrog Durant in 2 years.

Going to leapfrog Bron in 3 years.

I just hope he wants to kick everyone's arse and not join forces like today's pansy arse AAU players.

He'll be a 25/13 guy on seasons soon enough. With DPOTY awards mixed in too.

You guys really did hit the lottery with this one.

meh, we should've drafted Thomas Robinson.

Remember that whole mini-feud between him and AD before the combine

"If you wanted to check the stats, then I’d be the No. 1 pick easily — if that’s what you want to do. I should get one of those shirts. I’ll get a shirt that says, ‘Numbers don’t lie.’" -Thomas Robinson

I was calling him a potentially better Carl Landry and still tried to get excited about him as our pick. Thank God we won the lottery.

my top 5 players I wanted was:
Davis
Drummond
Robinson
Lillard
MKG

I was pretty shocked Lillard went top 10 and Drummond fell to 9.

I didn't think we had a shot at #1, so I convinced myself that Robinson would be a better player than Davis.

I've never been so happy to be that wrong in my life.

I can't imagine if Detroit had picked Rivers and we got Drummond along with AD, we are talking championships with a few pieces added.
