I will be there this weekend for my son's baseball tournament. I haven't been to this part of the state since I was a young child. What are some good places to eat. We're just looking for casual places. Also, we'll be staying with my aunt in New Iberia so anything in between Carencro and New Iberia is fair game.

Also, I know I'm probably stirring the pot with this question but my son absolutely loves boudin and I know everyone has their opinion about boudin but what are some of the best places to get some over that way? I'd like to stock up on some to take home with me.

Order from Shade Tree Cafe one day and pick it up. It's in Broussard. You won't regret it.

Ok I live in the Scott area. Everytime someone comes from out of town, they pick up boudin.
I prefer the Best Stop, and my guests have also agreed.

Dons is good, but it can be dry IMO.

Billy's is also good, but the boudin balls are huge and mostly breading except for the pepper jack boudin balls which taste great but you can feel you heart strain while eating.

Mike's country corner is horrible!

So for me, Best Stop all the way

Mostly breading? I'll have to disagree with that.

Boudin !

Since you're near Scott go to Don's / Billy's / Early's Grocery / and Best Stop (get 1 lb at each place and judge for yourself, you'll get 10 pages of arguments about which each person prefers). On way to N.I. stop at Billeaud's Grocery in Broussard ( a few blocks off of HWY 90) and grab you another pound. If you can make another stop (you won't be disappointed) go to NuNu's in Youngsville ! There you have it, you've made the boudin rounds and can't go wrong. You'll have a story to tell everyone and you can report back to us your favorite.

Oh it's a lot. You should have enough for leftovers. But it's so worth it

If you're looking for boudin, Don's gets my vote. And I eat lots of boudin if that means anything.
