I have been hearing that green are the best but would like this boards opinion. Also what brand do yall prefer?

Trying to decide between the costa Blackfin and Howler...any other opinions are welcomed.

TIA

I like those Blackfins. I currently have the Swordfish and they have the thick arms like the blackfins that block side light. I went with Green mirror and love them.

Had both. I've had green/amber 580 fantails for 3 years now and won't go back to blue.

that green are the best

Hahaha, don't listen to whoever says that. Green is the mirror which does nothing. It's the color of the lenses you look through that you need to worry about. Always get a laugh out of the mirror people.

so if I am getting some costas what do i get when i order the green mirrored ones for example?

ETA: if I get the 580G lenses it doesn't matter what color i get?

I think blue mirror has a silver or gray base, used for offshore. Green mirror has a amber or copper base, used for inshore, dirty water.
Also they may have a yellow base and a gray base. Both of these are good when the sun is low or cloudy skies.
But you can also get the lenses without the mirror...the mirror is only good for eyeing hot chicks without getting caught.

I just bought a pair of Costa Tuna Alley with 580G Green lense. Haven't fished other than pond fishing in the late afternoon so I'm not sure how well they will do. The mirror isn't as "mirrored" as the blue lenses. you can see my eyes (so no looking at boobs when you are talking to a woman). I have a friend that has blue lense, the 4whatever P and he is the reason I bought Costa's. I had a pair of Oakleys with the best lense they have and I couldn't see what he could. I love them though. The thing that I found was, I didn't end up getting the frames I thought i wanted. I was going for look until I tried them on and found that the Tuna Alley just fit my head better. something to think about.

Depends on the situation....

Lens colors all have to do with background viewed and lighting. What works best for an overcast day bass fishing stained water will be a different lens than what works for bright sun offshore in blue water versus chasing tailing reds in a marsh.

I use about 10 different pairs for different situations. Yes I do this for a living.
