So is Josh Gray going to play SG and become a scorer or is he gonna play PG and Anthony Hickey comes off the bench...The first scenario sounds best because you have Hickey playing PG and that would make him a fourth year starter. Gray playing SG and Martin and possibly Mickey coming back and playing PF or C. And Hornsby coming off the bench or he could start at SG or SF. So the future is bright for LSU!

I think Gray plays SG and Hickey plays PG. We shall see though.

Plus we have Elbert Robinson who can also play C and he is 7-1

I've had enough of Hickey. He's best when he doesn't shoot and looks to pass instead. The problem is he only plays like that a couple of times a season. He's a bad shooter and he looks to shoot way too much. So hopefully someone fills in for him with Hickey providing experience off the bench.

I am excited for Elbert, but I do not think he is ready to start next year.

Im kind of thinking

1 Hickey
2 Gray
3 Hornsby
4 Martin
5 Mickey

that being said, depends on the depth down low if we keep Martin at the 3 or drop him to the 4. Could easily be Martin at the 3 and Mickey/ Epps down low or Robinson. Just dont see them being fully ready.

i just hope he can shoot, say, in the 45% range or so. We desperately need more efficient guard play

Hickey is a true PG

Gray is a PG, who can fill it up though.

Hornsby is a SG

I wouldnt be surprised to see these three start next yeah with Martin and Mickey down low.

Not saying its guaranteed to be those 5, they also offer some potential defensive liabilities.

But we also have several bigs in Odo, Darcey, Elbert, Epps, etc who can spell the starters for periods of time and give us different looks.
Like SOS mentioned, I highly doubt we see Elbert come in ready to start. Odo is Odo, same with Darcey. Both offer some things but still trying to get it all together
One thing I do like about our bigs, although raw, they all bring different things to the table with their varying skill sets

Interested to see where Quarterman, Morgan, and even Hammink fit into the rotation and how their development progresses too. Could see some nice surprises from this group

Also in the college game, the ball is in the hands of the guards moreso than in the NBA.

Having Hickey, Gray, and Hornsby on the floor together can have its advantages for sure.
From a defensive standpoint it probably isnt ideal...but we dont even know what our roster/rotation is going to look like yet.

And I didnt even mention Patterson with the reserve guards earlier either, sorry J

Hickey is one of the best PG in the SEC and he is the most experience player on the incoming team so yea no one is gonna take his place.

Do you actually watch the games? Some of these statements are just stupid.

Hickey was criticized in the past 3 games for not shooting enough. He has great assist numbers and he tends to shoot whenever the team isn't able to score.

What do y'all see Quarterman's role looking like next season with the arrival of Gray, Hickey hopefully returning, and Hornsby becoming eligible?

Same goes for Jaylin Patterson...what're y'alls expectations from the freshman PG

Malik Morgan remain as a viable wing option? Solid defender, splitting some minutes with Hornsby?

I don't know if he will be back. He wanted to leave this summer but was talked into staying, he had a pretty bad year and right as it was turning around he sustained a nasty knee injury. If we have to make space i think he would be one that would look to transfer.

We pretty much had two centers on our team this season, Darcey Malone and John Udoh

22 MALONE, Darcy.... 19-0 - 73 3.8 - 18 0.9 - 26 1.4
31 ODO, John.......... 27-0 - 142 5.3 - 38 1.4 - 28 1.0

Neither were lights out this season, suffered some growing pains each.
Not saying Elbert wont play a huge role in 14/15, just saying dont bank on it

this is gonna be key. he started off unbelievably hot, but once conference play started his efficiency got really low, 39% from the field and 28% from 3pt line (actually even in November when he was super-hot, he only shot 34% from 3pt line).

He put up some real big point games in his JUCO non-conference play, but I think some of those were against really bad teams.

Hopefully all this was a case of him having to shoot way too much b/c that's the position he was in on his team--and at LSU he'll be able to be a lot more selective? Still, you'd prefer that FG% to look nicer.

As a sophomore at UNC-Ashville he was 2nd in all of the NCAA in Free Throw %. He hit 99 of 107 that year (92.5%). He averaged 15 points per game. He is a 40%+ three point shooter and was 2nd in LSU's pre-season dunk contest. Very athletic guy who will play a 2/3 combo. He is quick and a very hard worker. His shooting is very good but Im most excited about his ability to drive to the hoop. He's added a lot of muscle this year and should be able to go inside really well.

He is 6'4" and has increased his weight from 190 to 211. He tweeted the other day about how good LSU's strength and conditioning program is.

True there SOS, having seen Hornsby at numerous practices he will be a great addition to the back court. Really has a complete inside/out game, is a better than average passer too. Gray should get much better looks here with a three guard set I see us utilizing much of the time.I still think Odo can be serviceable if he can get coached up.Malone may never get his chance with the incoming talent the next few years,he has a ton of ground to make up.

Darcy won't be on the team next year. He won't be spelling anyone.

Odo should play more just so folks get rest, but JJ hasn't figured that out yet.
