Anyone familiar with them? I was able to find the info I was looking for about the UH program but not for Rice. I am assuming UH is the cheaper and easier program to get into. I was wondering how difficult it is to get into UH, I saw that a GMAT is not required so I am guessing it is all based off your undergrad and work experience.

TIA

UH is not as highly regarded as Rice. In fact, the ranking isn't even close. Unless you're getting the MBA for your enjoyment or to stick with your current job, chose Rice.

70K or 100K both are steep as hell.

My buddy did the rice program and hated life. Has class every weekend for like two years. Not sure how it panned out for helping his career. He is with the same company doing the same job as before.

Yea just looking into them, with prices like that I will prob just go to LSU or not worry about an MBA at all. However if my employer wants to pay then maybe so. Either way its a long way off.

I did the UH part time evening MBA. It ended up being around $30k. I didn't do the energy track though. I know some who did and they are doing pretty well now.

You have to have 7 years of full time industry experience to even apply. Like I said, long way off.

Yeah, you can do it over the weekends, but that sounds miserable. I bet the rice program is no joke

Rice is #33 and UH is #92 there is a huge difference between the two and honestly I would not see any value in a UH MBA.

I just into a part-time MBA program at a Top 10 school. My tuition is $120K over 3 years which is a little more palatable than $50K per year. I am looking at it as an investment in myself. Of course I'll still be earning a salary at my job, so I don't forego income like the full-time MBA students do. The ROI works out a lot better that way. 2 years if lost income is was a lot of money for me.

They have a huge alumni network in Houston. If you want to work in Houston it has it's value.

UH's MBA program averages look like this:

GMAT - 600-610
Age - 29
Work Exp - 6-7 years

According to Businessweek, Rice's average GMAT is roughly 680 and the program's top industry is petro/energy.

I imagine these GMAT scores are contingent on work experience. You could probably get into either program with a significantly lower score if you have a strong work history.
