Going to be here til Sunday. What bars, beaches, nightlife are a must? Should I just go farther East on the Coast for the weekend?

Drive east to Biloxi.

Half Shell is decent food, but I prefer Chimneys. You can always go to Biloxi or Ocean Springs. Casinos are overrated. Try the piano bar downtown Gulfport.

Hooters off 49 and I-10 next to Michael's night club

Dauphin Island or Orange Beach

Drive over to ocean springs and spend the afternoon. Nice, quaint town.

This guy knows.
Although I think the Piano Bar is now an Irish Pub. I would definitely recommend eating at Half Shell or Chimneys and getting a drink in some of the downtown Gulfport bars. They can be pretty fun.
If you must go to the casino, I'd say Hard Rock in Biloxi.
The beaches will not be very enjoyable this time of year, IMO.

Grew up there. I know tons of people down there. Haven't visited in a while.

I agree with everything posted by sabi and coater...
I personally don't do night life much any more, but I do enjoy the coast...need to hit ocean springs and hang out a bit while the weather is nice....
I wouldn't miss a trip to eat at Mary Mahoney's....it is a bit pricey, but never had a bad meal there...
if you like the casino scene, I would probably hit the hard rock or the beau in biloxi....if you are looking for something reasonably priced, the imperial palace is decent...
ETA: if you like good barbecue and blues music, you should eat at The Shed...very unique dining experience and damn cool thing to do in this type of weather...as they say, "get fed at The Shed"...

I've heard that 32 in the IP is good. Have any of you been?

I went there years ago. Food is pretty good.

Downtown Ocean Springs for nightlife. Great bars and restaurants.
As far as a beach goes, if you are up to riding the Ship Island Ferry, that is a gorgeous beach. I'm not sure if it is running yet. If not, OS beach is the only decent beach on the coast. If you go to the beach in Biloxi or Gulfport, don't go in the water--the sand is nice though.
Casinos in Biloxi have good restaurants and bars.

yep...went there last year and enjoyed it...
ETA: 32 is about the same price as mary mahoneys, and every bit as good...fairly trendy place, while mary mahoney's is a lot more traditional...

Nice! I was born and raised in Long Beach, and that's where I am for the time being. I love it here.
