On day 4 of my third time in probably two years of trying to quitting this terrible and addictive habit. I've gone anywhere from a few days to six weeks before, but I'm trying to kick the can for good so to speak.
Got a can of Smoky Mountain today in Wintergreen, but it's pretty terrible (made of corn silk and molasses)

Anybody got any other helpful tips or tricks besides gum and seeds that help?

Chantix. I know a few people that successfully quit using this. I have not ever attempted to because I am not ready yet.

Why don't you call it dip or chew?

English breakfast tea... toss the bag in like a dip.

Kills the craving.

nicorette gum 4mg. chew two pieces at first. you chew it til it "tingles" then pack it like you would chew between cheek and gum. then move it chew it some then repack it.

Change some habits, don't substitute food. Chewing gum works for some people, others...it just reminds them of the dip.

I quit dipping, drinking, smoking at the same time so the dipping wasn't an issue.

Sounds harder I know, but I'm actually going to really try routes w/o nicotine. Will explore this though before caving in and buying a can.

It's all in your head. the physical addiction pretty much ends when you wake up in the morning. If you can convince yourself...

Aw frick, who am I kidding? I've tried and can't quit either.

Water and black coffee did it for me the first time I quit

I am on day 19 - I am using chantix, as I dipped pretty heavy, I am not having any side effects though and it has eliminated the nicotine cravings. I am using Smokey Mountain about 2 times a day and gum and seeds the rest.

Went about 4-1/2 weeks in November. Best of luck, that patch was always tricky for me for whatever reason

Idk why I just feel like the whole Nicolette chantex thing is not really quitting to me, but like u said I'll go that route this time if it means not buying another can

Thanks y'all for the posts btw. Knew I could count on the guys here

Thanks for posting. I been thinking about putting it down too. I went to pouches a couple years ago as a method to step down so to speak. Really all I did was start keeping them in all day though.

The one time I tried to quit, I bought a bunch of "big league chew" bubble gum and the little "dip" cans of beef jerky. Acted just like I was dipping or chewing. I believe it was the feeling of having something in between my cheek and gums. It held me over for about a month. Then a buddy of mine forgot I stopped and offered me a dip... Cranked back up. I'm thinking about trying again here pretty soon.

Nicorette helped me a lot. Gives you the nicotine for a while so you aren't fighting physical and mental at the same time, initially.

Don't give up. I quit after MANY years.

I went from crack, to cocaine, to weed, to cigarettes, then dip. I stopped dipping by putting a chaw of coffee grounds in my lip for two months, gives you a buzz and helps mentally. It's all about small steps, you can do it.

Lol I did this too die a while then realized putting two or three in at a time was more expensive and just as addictive so I said f it went back to my long cut haha

Best of luck to other quitters too btw. Let's to a quit post board or something where we can update with our progress. Would y'all be down?

4mg nicotine gum... taper it down to 2mg... and then buy nicotine patches and cut them in half... wear while chewing regular gum... slowly begin using smaller pieces of the patch until you don't need it... it works..
