The Beckham group is also in “active discussions” with the University of Miami about sharing the stadium with the Hurricanes football team, which now plays at the Miami Dolphins’ Sun Life Stadium under a long-term lease. That would require the soccer stadium, now designed for about 20,000 to 25,000 spectators, to grow to about 40,000 seats, complicating the parking picture and scheduling, he said.

The group expects to decide within 60 days whether the UM idea is feasible, Alschuler said.

I posted this over at the MSB but I expect that to be wrecked by trolling

Lol @ them for misleading the public with false hope that they might actually sell out a stadium in Miami.

That would really take away from the stadium. Not only because of the extra seating that won't possibly be filled, but from the way the field will be torn to shite. The Dynamo have a beautiful field, but come fall when Texas Southern starts playing on it, the field looks like shite.

That looks absolutely brilliant. If people don't go to games at a place like that then there is no hope in Miami.

I really hope this vision comes to fruition. I know there will be a fight. Fortunately, this plan has Beckham and his powerful partners/friends behind it.

Only one thing:

I'm assuming it will be a soccer specific stadium that may accommodate some football games?

Structurally European stadiums are built with the fans literally right next to pitch with the first row being eye level. I guess if the U of Miami will be playing there, then they will have to block off the first 5-7 rows to allow people to see over all the players standing on the sideline.

That is unless they build the seating up like a traditional NFL stadium, which would negate the Euro aspect. IMO its stupid to accommodate the UM football team but if thats what takes to get the stadium built
