I have a small utility shed in my garage I keep most of my lawn equipment and hunting stuff in along with a chest freezer.
I have shite piled up everywhere.
What's better for a shed like this cabinets or shelving? Also any body have any tips for storing their equipment on the walls to get them off the floor.
I'm just looking to get organized.

take shed out of garage and use space in garage for storage.

I actually just bought some big nails at the home depot to drive into studs in the wall to hang stuff on...also bought a number of big hooks to screw into the ceiliing to hang bikes, etc. on...
got it all up during the last week and it freed up a hell of a lot of floor space..
also put up a sheet of pegboard and configured hangers to hang shovels, rakes, etc. so they are no longer piled up in a corner...
all in all, it looks damn good and organized...

Ah, I got ya. What size of a room we talking about?
A couple of ideas:
Take inventory and get rid of shite you don't need or use. Some young buck would be more than happy to get to use some of the stuff you bought that never really panned out for you.
Chest freezers are a huge waste of space IMHO. Sell it and get an upright freezer. You can still use the storage above the freezer by setting stuff on it that way.
If the room is sheet rocked in the inside you can remove the rock to allow for storage in the wall spaces of items like rods, gigging poles, nets, bipods, ect.
Shelves all the way around the top of the walls are great for storage but I have found that they need to be at least 14" from the ceiling.
Use boxes, bins, or crates to store groups of similar smaller items on the shelves.
Those screw in vinyl dipped hanging hooks are useful for hanging items but I find 6" long galvanized nails work better because you don't have to raise the item above the hook then back down onto the hook. (for walls not ceiling hung items. get hooks for that)
If there is a door to the room that swings into the room itself, either reverse the door so it swings out or take it off the hinges and store it in attic for later.
