I for one love crawfish as most and also love hot stuff. Normally the hotter the better, but tonight i had some that were simply unbearably hot. My mom went and got some from somewhere that i have never had them (in MS). I ate maybe 2 before i decided that it wasn't even pleasurable to eat they were so hot. It was almost a beer for every crawfish just to cool it down and it actually hurt my stomach. I guess theres a first for everything.

Sure, too hot is bad, but in general, so is excessive seasoning that obscures the flavor of the food. For example, IMO the food you can buy at LA Boilers amounts to a delivery mechanism for their seasoning. It all tastes the same to me, and the only difference is the texture, be it shrimp, crawfish, corn, potatoes, whatever. So I don't go there anymore. I do much better making it myself at home.

Been many years ago and it was at a Baton Rouge restaurant which I believe has since closed down. Truly they always had great steaks and great seafood but one night my wife, her good friend and myself went and had "All you can eat crawfish" and they were so hot that my lips were actually burning. After a while just couldnt eat them anymore and certainly I like spice but this was way too hot. Like you said , not really enjoyable when they are that hot.

Sounds like someone in MS. doesn't know how to boil crawfish.

Has some today at an event. Delicious! Flavor, right amount of heat and no burning. I want flavor, but heat such that my lips burn does not equal enjoyment.
