Bad Guys...
Right wing militia types VS North Korea
I am watching White house down, I doubt an TPG can take out an M1- Abrahms.
I can see how conservatives may be upset about the bad guy in White House down.
Olympus has the better cast, and the better take over story. Though I doubt an armed plane can so easily enter the DC special zone.
Olympus is the better movie, while Down has the feeling of an 80's action flick.
Both are decent popcorn movies.
What is the boards opinion?

Agreed.
That scene where Gerard Butler is questioning the 2 N. Koreans he captured is worth watching the movie...it was a classic.

Both are forgettable, but one is clearly better than the other...if that makes sense.

I prob won't ever see WHD. Looks cheezy. I really liked OHF.
Kind of like Deep Impact v Armageddon. DI was the more serious and better movie IMO. Arm had the typical cheesiness and feel good happy ending.

Olympus has Fallen is the much better film and it's not really close.

I didn't mind watching Olympus, haven't watched WHD yet, just because I thought they were the same movie and didn't feel like watching is again,

Has anybody read Transfer of Power by Vince Flynn?

Very entertaining book with great detail in it. A lot of movies can be made off Vince Flynn books.

Fallen. Olympus Has Fallen.

I've only seen OHF, thought it was an entertaining romp...an 80's action movie with a Jack Bauer hero. It doesn't try to be anything more than something you turn your brain off for, and destroy popcorn by the hand full.

This.

that is next to impossible to get in to.
If a un identified plane got in 20 or so miles of DC jets would scramble quickly and they would have no chance to make it close.
speaking of North Korea why are there so many take over white house/ usa involved Korea?

Really?
I haven't seen White House Down but I spend the entire time going come the frick on.
The plane was the most believable part though, in that if you neutralize the first responders you opened yourself a window of assault before the inevitable takedown.
It did have the first absurd part though: that the air defenses of the White House itself would be so limited and foolishly employed.
You would have shoulder launched anti aircraft missiles, and the heavy battery hidden (which probably does exist) wouldn't fire its entire load at once so as to be defeated by a single round of flares.
Also, why only one air defense system? Why wasn't an "Hydra" installed there.
The ground battle was absurd in the extreme though.

yeah I hate movies that make the secret service look like horribly trained security guards. The secret service is one of the most well trained group of men and women in the world. I'm sure they have many ex spes ops guys, and very well trained military men. I doubt they would lose a fight like that, plus I'm sure we could scramble jets and helicopters that would change that quick in our favor.

I mean, I'm no Napolean (pun intended), but I have more tactical know how than the geniuses who wrote the script.
The Secret Service is one of the most paranoid contingency planners on the planet.
They have doctrine already planned out for EVERYTHING.
And part of it isn't to go surging out of front door all at fricking once to leave an heavy fortified position to go into an exposed one.
frick no.
They would be tactical about it, using the bullet proof walls and windows to trade space for the time needed for the Army to get there.
And they would have pulled out MUCH harder weapons than what they were already carrying.
I'm talking a SAW inside over watching the front door kind of shite. Rocket launchers of their own that would have taken the truck out, etc.
SPOILERS
And most of all, it's a big arse leap to assume that the President would want to bring the Koreans into the PEDOC AND that the SS would actually listen to the order.

It grated on me especially because they made a point multiple times about the historic achievement to take the White house after they apparently turned the commander into a moron.
