Even though the whole east side of the parish is swampland, it's still crazy to see them in the city.

That big sow could feed some people at Hogs for the Cause next week.

The area behind English Turn is all farms. It's crazy, very wild back there. I didn't even know that existed. A lot of cow farms, and it's in city limits.

That's almonaster Blvd in the east, bunch of illegal dump sites. They're probably feeding off of that nasty shite and a few dead bodies

These wild hogs are insane...here's a link to an LSU study from last week

quote:

Add up all the wild hogs in Louisiana, and you get roughly the same number of people who live in Baton Rouge and New Orleans combined. And that’s after hunters last year killed more wild hogs than there are people in Lafayette.

The exploding feral hog population in the southeastern U.S. causes an estimated $1.5 billion in damage every year as the voracious eaters root up pastures, destroy crops, pull up seeds, damage forests and generally wreak havoc everywhere they go.

quote:

Experts estimate that killing between 75 percent and 85 percent of the wild hogs in North America would do nothing but maintain their population. In other words, more than 85 percent of the wild hogs roaming the continent today would have to be killed in order to keep their numbers in check.

They better get on top of the problem now or the whole area will be overrun in them. They breed on a level with rats. They can be a serious problem once they move into an area.

If you drive out to Slidell on I-10, there's usually a mess of them on the hurricane protection levees right before Irish Bayou.

Is it really illegal to hunt in the entirety of Orleans Parish, even in the marsh area out in the East? They really need to open it up to take out these frickers before THEY take out everything, including the hurricane protection.

Those are LITTLE piglets. She is probably checking in around 200-225# if I had to guess. Hog weights are almost always over estimated.

Hogs in the city limits?

That's what suppressors are made for...

I don't know the laws in LA, but if it is illegal to hunt in Orleans Parish, they'd better make some sort of exception when it comes to hogs. They can literally devastate a huge swath of land overnight. Imagine going to bed one night and when you wake up the next morning you find that your yard and all your neighbors yards have been rooted up. I've seen that happen just south of Birmingham in a very upscale neighborhood called Liberty Park. They're getting overrun with them.
