This does not excuse the record fixing, which I think really does happen - but, they have a point. The state can use selective investigation as a tool to hurt political enemies, just like the Fedgov can.

think of the tea partiers who got audited. Nobody is saying the tea partiers should get a free pass on cheating on taxes but the scandal is real.

Yeah, we know Baton Rouge schools were great and there was no crime before Katrina.

Btw, Katrina washed away the N.O. school board, which might have been the worst in the country. Most of the schools are run by a charter system now, with many of those under state control and they are doing pretty well.

It was hilarious to see the old school ignorant racist assholes a few years after Katrina trying to whine and complain that "they" wanted the control of "their" schools again.

Two things:

1) Members of the tea party are not part of the government. The school system is. I have no problem with random audits of public institutions since we all have waste money on them.

2) I don't recall the audits targeted at Democrat's opponents revealing much in the way of corruption.

We all know that will NEVER happen. The powers that be are the problem and they will NEVER give up control.

It sounds to me the board is approaching it the correct way. If they used the school system's own employees to review the audit's claims, no one would have trusted their results. You St Georgeistas would have been (correctly) saying it was going to be a cover up if the same people who made the screw ups were going to be the ones reviewing the screw ups.

This board is so blindly against anything the board does, the board gets criticized even when it tries to do the right thing.

If they find fraud, I hope someone goes to jail, especially if the fraud cost taxpayers money.

No surprise there. By my count this is the second time the SG organizers have gone MIA from a meeting where they could have voiced their concerns and scored points for their "cause." What are they scared of? What are they hiding? WHY are they hiding?!?

And to Poodle who asked how long will the board take to answer the state's audit, the school board is required to report its corrective action plan to the state by April 4. That has been reported numerous times. I guess tax season has you too busy to keep up with the facts.

They attended a meeting at a neighborhood off Highland Road last night to answer questions about the incorporation of St George. I attended the meeting, it went very well. Had about 75 people from the neighborhood.
