Remember when Assad crossed the "redline" and we reneged on our promise for some ambiguous action and subsequently we did nothing militarily?

Where do we stand with Syria now? Is everything kosher?

Assad has made gains in defeating the rebel fighters and has been on the offensive for a few months . They just closed the boarder with Lebanon becuase the rebels where fleeing over thus bringing violence. Syria is not getting talked about anymore by the MSM just like the uprising in Venezuela isn't getting the attention it deserves.

Looks like Assad has won. He still has over 2/3rds of his WMDs. He will remain in power.

The Syrian people are being slaughtered.

Meanwhile obama's basketball bracket...

It's a huge convoluted mess over there, but then again that is par for the M.E.

quote:

Taken together, Assad’s victory, his continued slaughter of those who oppose him, his repeated human rights violations, his failure to live up to the terms of the deal, and his undermining of the peace talks amount to a stunning defeat of American diplomacy. Nearly 50,000 people have died since the United States confirmed the use of chemical weapons last summer, bringing the total number of casualties to more than 140,000.

Taken together, this also represents a clear victory for Bashar al Assad. He has accomplished every goal he had when the United States and its partners ignored the so-called “red line” and allowed the war to continue without intervention.

That Syrian mess was simply a diversion tactic from one of this administration's scandals at the time. I can't remember which one it was out of the IRS targeting conservatives, unanswered Benghazi questions that still do not have answers, the menagerie of shite that is the ACA, resurgence of a foreign birth certificate of our dear POTUS, or Holder's complete incompetence as Attorney General. Maybe it could have been all of them, come to think of it.

It certainly seems that way given the fact that it's really not that important now. I guess the McCain wing of the GOP took the lure from the WH because they saw an opportunity to get entangled in another ME conflict to award more defense contract to their friends.

Just for the fun of it, I'd like to hear more about this.

The deadline to remove all of their chemical weapons came and went and Syria claimed they had removed 11%. That is obviously a best case scenario number.

Don't forget that the Saudis are funding them.

Not sure what the political answer is, but IMO it was to open the door for radical Muslims to seize power.

What's that now? I'm in the mood for something like this. Please elaborate.
