I need a new set of ratcheting wrenches for work. Dad told me about harbor freight and i checked them out online. They have sets for super cheap.

Are the small hand tools here quality? or should i stick with craftsman?

I buy tools from HF if they have no moving parts or if it's something I only need once or twice

A lot of the craftsman stuff is made in china.

You can get decent usa, japanese, swedish, or german stuff on amazon/ebay.

Harbor freight is disposable tools.

For example... I have a 10$ harbor freight breaker bar in our cars so the wife can break lugs aloose if she gets a flat ajd doesnt want to wait for me or triple A.

They do make the best chinese made torque wrench out there... lol

Harbor Freight is great for an extra set of any tool (camp, truck, etc). They are not lifetime tools, but will do.

I go by there every few months for bungee cords, ratchet straps, and batteries.

Snap -On males a discounted brand, I'll look it up.

I haven't been too impressed with Craftsman lately.
It seems like the ratchets have really went downhill and the screwdrivers aren't what they usd to be, in terms of temper.

Exactly this. Have seen last for one job or last for 10years. It's a crapshoot, but if you aren't betting your life on the tools I would take a chance.

Get your craftsman at a pawn shop and enjoy the warranty.

HF is ok but most of what I've bought is light duty

Agree.

Since OP was using it for work, I'd go with better quality.
Reviews on Amazon will tune you to,some good tools.

Harbor Freight generally has low quality but IMO almost everything that they carry is adequate for the average home owner's needs. However if you are purchasing for work or something that will be used daily then I wouldn't suggest HF.

Also, the guy that said to check a pawn shop was right. Often times you can get slightly used, high quality tools for half the price or less than buying new.
