Had a Radeon 7850 HD for a couple years and it crapped out on me.

Haven't kept up too much with CPU technology since. Need a quick graphics card recommendation. Preferably under $200.

Should I just go with another 7850 or take a step up?

Look at Toms Hardware monthly Best Graphics Cards For The Money article.

Was actually reading it while posting.

I always like to get additional opinions from others when purchasing things like this.

I may just go with the R7 260x. Basically a faster version of my previous 7850 and it's around my $150 price range.

Anyone else here have any additional suggestions?

I'm assuming you mean GPU? I have a r9280x and it's nice.

Correct

I'll have to check those out

ETA: Although I can afford it, those are a bit out of my price range

The previous 7850 I had ran BF3, LoL, CS:GO and all of the Battlefield Bad Company games at max with zero issues. I think the slight upgraded speed of the R7 may be ideal, especially considering the price

How did it crap out? What are the symptoms?

If it's only been couple of years, maybe it's still under warranty.

If you're in the market for a new $200 graphics card, the R9-270x would be a decent bump in performance. This one is $179 with the promo code: LINK

Way better value than that R7. The R7-260x would actually be a slight downgrade in a few games.

Here's a comparison in performance between the 7850 and the R9-270x in some select games. (The orange bar represents the 7850, obviously. The number represents average frames per second).

Turned my PC on one day last month, and I was getting no visuals. PC was on and running.

I turned of my PSU individually (it has it's own power switch), this usually solves any problem like I was having. In this case, I was still getting no visual.

I took out my GPU/Video Card/whatever you wanna call it, and re-slotted it. Started the PC up again...nothing.

I took my old 250GT, popped it in the mobo, and it worked just fined.

I'm gonna try my 7850 one more time before I purchase anything, just to be sure, but I can't imagine why it would work all of a sudden now.
