Anyone in the CM program and going?
Anyone have any experience from a past CID?
I have a few interviews, just not sure what to expect. I've never had a formal interview, they have all been pretty laid back and casual.

Mkae sure you write down the correct times of the interviews you scheduled. I didn't have the correct time for one, missed it, and the CM department lost their shite. Plus it just looks bad.

Here's how it works:
It will be like a job fair with tables for individual companies set up all over the union ballroom. When you sign in, they'll give you a map.
Interviews are every half hour from 8:30-11:00, and then again from 1:00-5:00. In between is lunch where it becomes a job fair.
There's generally an announcer that says when it's time to start each shift of interviews (i.e. every 30 minutes).
How formal the interviews varies with each company. Some ask very rigid behavioral questions, some just want to get to know you. The best thing you can do for yourself is to go to the CID social tonight and meet recruiters. If you meet the recruiters you're interviewing with tonight, the interview tomorrow will be much more relaxed.
Also, don't be afraid to talk to other random recruiters at the social. If they like you there, they'll go ahead and sign you up for extra interview spots! I met one once that liked me so much, he signed me up for an interview slot on the spot and told me "don't worry about it, this interview is just a formality, we'll get you set up for a second interview for sometime next week."
The keys are as follows:
Be prepared. Do your homework on these companies and come with questions to ask them. Also, make sure you write down answers to common interview questions (a good thing to google today) and bring those answers with you so you're prepared for them.
Ask lots of questions. The more they talk, the more they'll like you. It's just like trying to pick up women. People like to hear themselves talk and like people who let them do so.
Be confident and relaxed. Just like with talking to women, the confident guy always wins. Be confident in yourself (though not arrogant) and companies will respond to it. These companies are going to be interviewing as many as 12 people each tomorrow so you have to stand out some how or else they'll forget you. Confidence will go a long way in that.
Stop by at lunch time: Even though many of the recruiters will be eating, at lunch time the whole thing turns into a career fair. You can get easily get an impromptu interview this way.
Come well stocked. Bring at least one copy of your resume for each company you're interviewing with plus a few extra. Also make sure to pack breath mints, a bottle of water, a comb, and maybe something to read in between interviews if it looks like you might have downtime. Bringing some tums and/or tylonol might not be a bad idea either.
Anyways, good luck! I'll be there with 12 interviews tomorrow.

Ya, they have sent me 15 reminders in the past two days along with a stern warning that if I didn't show there would be hell to pay.

It's a big deal that makes the department look really really bad.

Thanks man! Good luck to you!
What time and where is the CID social?
I haven't heard the first thing about it.
I assume it's business professional attire as well?

as a person that has been the interviewer before king posted some good points. Please don't sit down in front of me and not even know what our company specializes in. We really focused on guys that had construction experience. Also have an idea of what you want to do. Residential, commercial, industrial, heavy civil.

6:00pm at the Lod Cook Center
Dress is business casual (button up, slacks, dress shoes, and a sportscoat, no tie is a safe bet)
remember to look sharp for your interview in suit and tie

Did it last year, doing it again tomorrow. I had success last year and enjoyed it. I have 10 interviews tomorrow so it might get tough.

This. I am a Senior PM with a pipeline construction company here in H-town. One of the guys that we have here on my project that they are grooming as a future PM is a product of this process out of LSU. He actually left yesterday to go interview prospects for this event as we are back over there looking for more talent.
