Arrow - just a question . . . or two

I was a huge Smallville fan - even through the crap years.
Now, I watched the first episode of Arrow way back in the day and thought it was just ok, but is this a show I should catch up on and start watching? Is it similar to the feel of Smallville? Outside of The Walking Dead and a few non-fictionalized history channel-type shows, I'm just not feeling anything lately. So, is this a show I should invest some time in?

sooooooo much better than smallville. if you arent hooked after the first few episodes, i wouldnt bother then.

My brother loves it, and hes a huge Smallville fan as well. Even through the crap years 
I've seen a couple episodes and they've been entertaining. There are some flashback heavy episodes, so if you're not a fan of LOST's format you might not enjoy it as much.
eta- although the flashbacks in Arrow episodes are always more relevant than some of the LOST flashbacks

I like it better than Smallville, and I liked Smallville. But I wouldn't say it had the same feel as Smallville (especially the high school years). Arrow is a darker take on the DC universe.

Before you start, you need to know that Oliver Queen spent five years on a hellish island. The creators of the show really don't make this fact clear.

SUICIDE SQUAD was just a taste of how fricking awesome this show is and just one of many stories they can tell, wait to they introduce Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) to the series!
