i'll be the first to admit i'm a pink floyd homer. but, to me, this is one of their best songs - with, or without, roger.

any one agree?

I'll admit i am a bit if a homer as well, but I think there is a huge difference lyrically without RW.
If you are speaking melody/musically, then I would agree that this is one of the best.
But imho, WYWH, Animals, Meddle and DSOM provided better all around songs.

i have to agree for an album as a whole. animals, i think, is the best all around album they had - beginning to end. but for a song without rog, high hopes is still one of the greatest songs from their whole body of work.

Definitely the best post-RW Pink Floyd song.

I'm a Pink Floyd homer as well, but I enjoy the song.

Obviously you could make the argument that the lyrics would be better with Waters contributing, and while some of the verse lyrics leave something to be desired I really like the chorus lyrics and think they sum up the core of the song very well.

The Division Bell as a whole is one of the best Pink Floyd albums. Poles Apart (song and guitar solo) is severely underrated.

The closing solo outro is one of the best Gilmour has ever recorded.

For me it's like Metallica's "Bleeding me." Its about the best of a bad period/era, but I wouldn't call it good.

How ironic is it that I was listening to this song before I clicked on this thread?

hearing richard wright sing again was good, and i also like "a great day for freedom". but... the album also has a song that earns the distinction shared by only one other floyd song - "money" - and that is "keep talking". i can not stand that song.
