Tech took the lead with 2.2 seconds to go and Iona rimmed one out from half court as time expired. Helluva game.

A very exciting game and I tip my cap to La. Tech. I am not surprised that they were 27-1 at home over the past 2 seasons (now 28-1). They are a quality team who came out and punched us in the mouth going up 10-2. The Dawgs led by as many as 9 in the first half. The Gaels didn't quit and got their first lead with 1:47 left in the first half. 48-46. It was 48-all at the half.

Neither team had more than a 5 point lead in the 2nd half and there were 10 lead changes. We were a box out from winning 88-87. But Speedy got a rebound and put back with :2.6 left. AJ English heaved up a 3/4 court shot as the buzzer sounded that rimmed out. A heart breaking loss for Iona. This game should have been on ESPNU rather than ESPN3, it was a very good display of college basketball.

I have no idea why the NIT Committee gave St. John's a #1 seed or sent Iona to Louisiana for its first round game. It's a series I would like to see continue, though.

Good luck to La. Tech. The Gaels beat Georgia in Athens in OT last season. Go get 'em, La. Tech!

That was the kind of game you hate to see either one lose.

Deep down I should be happy to see success for any state school because I'm a life long resident of this state and it is just our little piece of heaven versus 49 other a-hole states. We need to stick together cause nobody else gives a flying frick. But that's not the case. I wish Tech and their pine trees would have lost by 1/8 of a point in quadruple over time.

The 2 most exciting Iona games I saw all year were losses. A late season road loss at Manhattan 80-77 after being down big and tonight's 89-88 loss at La. Tech. The Manhattan loss was easier to take because we had already clinched the MAAC regular season title. Tonight's loss ended our season. You all are a very good team, I'd like to see us work some kind of H/H games over the next few years.

It's an exciting style of basketball. You all should come up and face us and Manhattan every other year and we'll come to Louisiana.

I really get bored with games in the 50s. Both teams showed a lot of skill and athleticism. The difference in the outcome, I thought, was that you all shut down Sean Armand. He has been my favorite Gael since Ricky Soliver.
