Ages 10-16? My friend is wanted to buy some for her kids to play with down at her land by a creek. Also, where's the best place to buy guns and equipment online? Thanks for suggestions.

I had a spyder victor when I was younger. Shot hella cats with it

Yeah, the spyder's got popular and affordable right after I stopped playing in my teens. But that was 15 years ago or so. Didn't know if anything better was out now.

When I say when I was younger I mean like 4 years ago sold it and bought a badass pellet gun to kill the squirrels in my apartments backyard

Cool, so they're still a big seller then huh? Lol

Just go buy whatever gun Tippmann is putting out these days.
I bought an A-5 a while back a few years after they came out.
I'm sure they are still selling the old 98-custom. It's a solid gun, that works effortlessly and they couldn't break it if they tried.
Tippmann = AK-47s of the paintball world.
ETA: just looked it up for you. 98 custom is 140, A-5 is 180. If he plans to play for more than a year or two. I would go ahead and get the A-5, much better operating gun and leaves room for enhancements later on once he decides he wants to spend more of your money by shooting faster.
Nvm just read through the rest of it, I would go ahead and just get him a 98 custom if he's only going to be playing with friends on someone's land. He's not gonna need anything uppity like an A-5.
Also a really good site is ANS Gear, where I used to buy all my stuff.

I may be in the minority here but I am NOT a fan of children having any type of "gun" which is not utilized for a purpose and handled under the universal rules of safe firearm handling.
teaching muzzle control through repetition is thrown out the window when you buy a gun used as a toy with the intent of shooting your friends

I come to the OB to forget that I live in northern California. And voila..."hella Norcal" comes to me.

Yeah, looks like tippman and spyder's are the big sellers.

They'll be trained to use them safely. They already have .22's that they have been trained to shoot safely. You sound like you are no fun.

You just have to reiterate while they are young the differences, real vs toy.
I'm anal as hell around other people handling guns, but I used to play paintball regularly at a field with a bunch of people. This is also a good way to keep the kids minds focused, find a good field like Paintball Command in Mandeville. I worked and played there for a while, and we were preaching every second gun safety.

unless your kid is full retard he should be able to comprehend the difference between shooting at friends with his paintball gun and shooting at friends with his AK47.
ETA: Teaching muzzle control while shooting at your friends is much more fun than while shooting paper.

I totally see where you're coming from. Back in the day we had neighborhood airsoft wars, I was stacked up with the pistol, AR, and shotgun

Get one that uses compressed air over CO2. Look at the guns Smart Parts make.

Smart Parts went bankrupt, but I believe they came back as G.O.G or something. Don't know what their new stuff is like.

Buy used.
Better price and a good gun.
I used to play competitively... 03 Shocker, efficiency kit, flipped switch, low pro smart parts nitrogen setup and vboarded halo, full freak... like a 1700$ setup.
You can buy that setup for 200$ off of craigslist if you bargain hunt.

Back when my friends and I all got into paintball this was a concern of his too. He took a gallon of water and sat it on a stump. He shot it with one of the paintball guns and it didnt move. He then shot it with a 12 gauge 3" slug and it exploded. All he simply said was that the human body would react the same way and that was that.
Shot people thousands of paintballs at people. Shot zero shotguns at people. Guess kids can learn the difference.

An automag at 1200 psi with an ultra evil ball will dent car doors. We used to use a buddy's truck as a center bunker for speedball...looked like hail damage.
The two things are unrelated in my mind.

The more a child is exposed to a gun the safer he will be
