Qatar World Cup construction death toll: over 900

In 2022, Qatar will host the World Cup. The host city has already made some waves with its stadium shaped like a certain body part. But what you might not know is that, so far, about 900 workers have died while working on building the infrastructure for the tournament
. Last month, the Guardian reported that over 400 Nepalese migrant workers had already died at building sites. Between 2010 and 2012 more than 700 workers from India lost their lives working on construction sites in Qatar, too. A report by the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) says that if conditions don’t get any better, by the time the World Cup kicks off, at least 4,000 migrant workers will have died on the job. Yet America is not fit to host according to FIFA.

Compared to the 11 building the Golden Gate Bridge or the 5 in Brazil, that number is insane.

It's simply fricking insane to host the World Cup there. There's no question that the only reason they're hosting is that they bribed the most. This may be worse than the World Cup in South Africa and the Sochi Olympics combined. I can only imagine the shite holes they'll be keeping people in. There's no way a country of 2 million people total can pull this off. This will be a debauchery that has never been seen in sports. You know that the fans and players are thrilled to be playing in a basically dry country and where highs are typically around 110 degrees.

Maybe 20 or so? I can't imagine it would be even in the ballpark of this. If there's one thing that the Chinese do well, it's build things quickly. There's a reason why the National Bird of China is the Crane. Plus the environment in Qatar is much, much worse than Beijing for construction.

Its fricking stupid to have the World Cup there. The weather is going to be terrible, the country isn't large enough and they don't have the infrastructure.
I hope the idiots who voted for Qatar over the U.S. just to stick it to us Americans enjoy the cluster frick of terrible situations that World Cup is shaping up to be

Think I remember a bunch of beatdowns of foreigners, but most importantly those ridiculously annoying vuvuzelas.

Not to mention that at this rate, the death toll to bring this match will be higher than 9/11.

They build things quickly because they don't give a shite.
More than 100 died building the three gorges dam.

FIFA is going to make it a winter WC. All of the major clubs are already pissed at the thought. It is going to be a disaster.

Do not want a winter World Cup.
You'd think the people in charge of choosing would have the foresight to realize they were plopping the World Cup down in the middle of a desert during the summer
