Terrence Ross's 3-point shot did not go through due to a phenomenon known as centrifugal force, which is the tendency for an object traveling in a circle to move away from it's center of rotation. In this case, the basketball had a centrifugal force greater than gravity therefore gravity ceased to act on it momentarily. The ball had just as good of a chance of going through the hoop as out of it. Basically, the path of least resistance won out.
