“Anthony has free-agent options, and two have risen above everything else: Chicago and Houston, sources with direct knowledge of his plans told Yahoo Sports,” Wojnarowski wrote.

“The Bulls have an easier path to clear the necessary salary-cap space to sign Anthony, but the Rockets believe they can shed the contracts necessary to offer a third near-max deals alongside Dwight Howard and James Harden, league sources said.”
Would you do this if you were Houston?

Would he mesh well with Houston?

That's what I'm asking.

I don't know. I don't watch enough Carmelo Anthony to really make an opinion.

You ain't winning a championship with James Harden and Carmello playing offense-only basketball.

Would not work. Harden and Melo both require having the ball in their hands way too much.

As if Carmelo would be replacing a defensive stud...

I wouldn't. They need a PF with range like Lamarcus Aldridge or Bosh to compliment Howard IMO

OKC seems to do okay with that.

Different style though. Plus I think they would be even better if they traded Westbrook for someone like Kevin Love who doesn't need the ball in his hands as much.

Plus KD is okay with getting out of Westbrooks way if he is on. I don't see Melo being able to do the same thing.

And it could certainly help in the half-court. Rockets offense isn't great in the half-court. They are fantastic in transition and during the early offense when the defense is on their toes.

But once the defense is set, Rockets aren't great. Carmelo could definitely improve the half-court offense, which would be very helpful in the playoffs when the game slows down.

I just honestly think y'alls offense probably operates better with guys like Parson's and Terrence Jones just filling their roles.

The reason the Heat's big 3 has worked so well is because first off LeBron is an amazing passer, Bosh has become a willing catch and shoot guy, and D Wade functions pretty damn well without the ball.

No chance in hell that Darryl Morrey does that deal

So they would have to get rid of Asik and Lin? Good luck with that.

That would be an interesting lineup though with Howard, Harden, Parsons, and Jones, who's been great recently.

According to a league source, the Rockets will make a bid for Carmelo Anthony this summer, even though they probably won’t have cap space and would have to orchestrate a creative sign-and-trade. The source said Houston asked the Knicks about Anthony before February’s trade deadline.

Oh really? Morey won't do that deal?

Would be a disaster IMO. That'd be a pretty mentally weak big 3. I just see Melo as an absolute cancer to any team who is close to being a legitimate contender. Houston should keep letting their young guys get better, they are close. Best shot at a title for Melo would be him coming off the bench for significant time on a legit team.

Wait, you're comparing Harden to Westbrook and Melo to KD in this analogy?

And for the record Durant and Westbrook actually care about playing defense.

I was talking strictly about offense. And yes, I was comparing the fact that OKC has two ball-dominant scorers.

KD and melo are completely different players. KD actually passes to the open guy on a regular basis and is a team player. Melo is a Me player.
