Did my undergrad at LSU and going to grad school in Nashville. I start in mid-may. I have only been there once for three days so I am not familiar with the area at all. Need OT advice on where to live, hang out, etc? Also, is there an alumni group up there?

Cool story bro

If you are young and single, the The Gulch is a cool area. Especially if you are working downtown.

How expensive is the Gulch? I have looked at that area a few times.

They have good bars around that area? I am guessing downtown Nashville is similar to going to Bourbon St.

How far is mid-town from all these areas? I am assuming that is where everyone goes out at. Old Hickory would be awesome but it would be a pain in the bones commuting to school and work from there haha

Where are you going to grad school? Vandy? Belmont? Lipscomb? Vol State?

Serious Answers:
-Off West End between Vandy and White Bridge Rd
OR off Woodmont/Woodlawn/Bowling Drives

-Hillsboro Village

-12 South neighborhood

-Gulch

Old Hickory is a dump. I'm a Sumner County Lake Rat and even I prefer Dale Hollow, Center Hill, and KY Lake. While you live up there, get a long weekend on Center Hill during the summer

I lived in. East Nashville, a block off five points in Historic Edgefield. Could not recommend it enough. Easy access to downtown, gulch, 12South, and walking distance to 3 Crow Bar and Tenn Sixteen. Very affordable because everyone is scared to live over there, but thats bullshite. Its not the safest part of town, but take normal measures and your fine. And Edgefield is a great neighborhood.

Realtor here in Nashville. If I was in grad school my top four would be 12th south, gulch, Germantown, & East Nashville.

I was coming in to recommend East Nasty, but Milo did it better than I could.

Also, I'd look at Hillsboro Village and 12 South as well as a few others have mentioned.
