Not a positive review, but I found this article on Foster the People interesting. More about how we polish all of the grime and grit from music to make it less interesting but more popular.

I haven't heard the album, but I do agree with the premise of the article on a larger scale.

to write that article about FTP is quite strange. Mark Foster's main talent is the ability to come up with a seemingly endless supply of catchy melodies. It's quite astounding, really. Most songs have a single, main hook that drives the song. A FTP song will have about a dozen. All intermixed and interspliced in there. So to criticize an album for having too many hooks, when in fact having many hooks is the Modus Operandi of the band, is pretty silly.
