Best parish in Louisiana. You won't be disappointed. Watch out for cops, though.

Like most other big dogs, they die young.

Awesome rationale for getting an animal that thrives in subzero temperatures with a small barrel under his neck

So, you're criteria for a great dog is this? That's like every dog that ever existed. Get one that won't eat 50 lbs of feed a day and may actually not die of heat stroke, if you live in Louisiana. My .02

No, but if I did, I'd have to name him Da Parish.

I have 2... They live inside because of the heat and humidity... I've had 5 in all and 2 had hip dysplasia...awesome personalities and love children...got my most recent one last summer in Denver... Had to fly and get him because it's too hot to ship them as cargo in the summer... My other one was born in Iowa... He was able to be shipped "VIP"... Very Important Puppy:) because it was winter... He's 8 now...I'm happy to answer any questions...

We have a few leonbergers which are half st bernard, 1/4 Newfoundland, and 1/4 great Pyrenees. Just understand that while it's awesome they are big they will be puppies and all that cute shite puppies do is great...when they aren't 130 lbs.

But it is fun walking beasts like that and either getting attention or scaring the bejesus out of people walking non-moose

Oh, and prepare to feed them a shitload of food.

They aren't cheap to raise... Eat almost 40# of dog food every 10 days...EACH...my puppy was around 1K... My 8 year old was $400 but was also 3-4 months when we got him... He was on the clearance rack lol...can't really tell you what the vet bills run because we have several dogs and have a bill every month... Hard to break it down...

They really don't shed much and contrary to popular belief don't drool a lot... My German Shepard drooled much more...

So you want a pet that eats his weight in food every 5 days. Very well thought out

Yea, dogs that big are definitely not for people without a steady income.

Please rethink this. You will have to give this dog up when you haven't trained him and he is too big and strong to control, and you can't afford to feed him. If he has a medical problem it will cost thousands of dollars to give him proper care.

Shelters are full of dogs owned by someone for 6 months because they were "cute". Please don't do this to a dog.

If you MUST have a dog, go get a cute small one at the pound.

I don't have a saint Bernard but I can help you out food wise. Noticed you said you don't have a job. Well you need one before buying a puppy as others said they eat a lot. You need to have him/her on a good healthy diet, not some beneful or ole Roy from Walmart. I own two German shepherds and have to buy a 30lbs bag of food every 10 days. I feed them one the best foods on the market and get it almost at cost which is still a lot of money. So factor that in before getting yourself involved and not having the funds to properly take care of him.
