How the NCAA Tourney Should Be.

Hello TD.
It has always bugged me how the NCAA tourney has brackets based on region yet has teams from out of region playing in each yearly. It is not right.
I propose that each team gets put into a bracket based on what there state falls into BEFORE seeding takes place.
The only time any teams should be seeded vs others before finding a bracket is to help remove excess teams from 1 bracket and moving them to another there state falls in (lower seeds being the ones that move in such a case).
Then after each region has 17 teams (damn you play in game!!!) appropriate to there region seed everyone and begin.
Now I know what everyone is asking. Well what states feed which regions? Well it is simple. Note Some states are in multiple regions. Those as such are outlined as to which are there secondary regions to go to to help fill them out if necessary.
East = Any state with any part no matter how small in the Eastern Time Zone + DC.
(Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Florida, Georgia, NC, SC, Tennessee, and Virginia have as Secondary region)
South = Virginia, NC, SC, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona, Hawaii.
(Arizona, Hawaii, and New Mexico have as Secondary region)
Midwest = ND, SD, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan.
(Oklahoma + Texas have as Secondary region)
West = Any state with any part no matter how small in the West or Mountain Time Zones + Hawaii.
(ND, SD, Nebraska, Kansas, have as Secondary region) (Texas has a Tertiary region)
Also all the games in each region should be played in the same city (for that year not yearly). With only the final 4 and championship being played at a different venue. Either the games should be played in the largest city of the top seed per region (Philly, Miami, Wichita, Phoenix based on bracket below). Or pick a place in the regions a year in advance and rotate it between several other venues. Either is ok.
Now using this year's tournament teams here is how the brackets should look if teams were selected to there regions more logically and appropriately.

False.
ETA: Like, this is the worst idea I've ever heard.

That midwest would be ridiculously stacked.

Disagree with the regional format you propose
I do support going back to the old quad system for first/second round games instead of the current pod system.
The quad system meant each regional had two sub regionals.
The pod system got rid of that and tries to schedule teams based on proximity in the first round

Meh let them. I freely admit I took my seeds by looking at the seeds each team got in this years tournament and ordering them from highest to lowest. Thus Lafayette is the 13th seed in this mock South bracket.

Crazy no Illinois or Indiana teams this year but two from New Mexico

You put a lot of thought into this post.

Interesting. In 1970, Marquette and Al McGuire rejected an NCAA bid because they would have been sent out of the Midwest to play in Texas.
Instead, they took an NIT bid and won the tournament.

It's still there somewhat for the higher seeds. Florida is playing in Orlando, Wisconsin in Milwaukee, etc.

2.You forgot to place the state of Kentucky
3.You must have been reeeeeeeeeeeally bored to come up with all this

This used to be the NCAA format back in the day, but UCLA single handidly brought about changes. Back when UCLA won like 11 titles in a row, they were in a cakewalk to the Final 4 every year. They would literally play the likes of San Fransisco, Pepperdine ect. The NCAA realized that the West, just based on the number of teams alone, was subpar compared to the rest of the country. They HAD to chage it. Since then, UCLA hasnt been anything close to what they used to be. The tourney is absolutely fine the way it is!

No I did not. Kentucky falls under the "East = Any state with any part no matter how small in the Eastern Time Zone + DC."
Kinda. Sad thing is I make one of these almost every year.
